One month until weā€™re chasing feathers in Indiana.

Iā€™m not necessarily the biggest bird huntinā€™ guy and nothing gets my blood boiling like a 160ā€ inch, homegrown whitetail, but there is something special about hearing these birds on the roost on a nippy Indiana morning!šŸ¦ƒ

Found in 1959 by a rancher in Central Nebraska.

These sheds sold for 1,000,000 dollars. The biggest set of whitetail sheds ever found, and this deer is thought to have never been harvested.

The size of these antlers are hard to explain and these pictures do not do them justice.šŸ˜®

Chapter ā€œSwoopsā€ was bittersweet.

I made a shot on this deer at 30 yards three years ago with my bow. Knew I hit him low so we backed out and let him lay overnight.

Went in to recover him the next day and we had little to no trace after 100nyards of blood. Went hired a drone and a dog to come and try to assist us in recovering this giant Indiana whitetail with no success

It was nauseating to think that I threw away the one chance I had to shoot a deer like this. Nauseating to think Iā€™ve made a connection with a deer like this all to see him disappear due to my own mistake.

That was until today. Bitter to not be able to reap the benefits of such a beautiful buck, but sweet to find closure and finally have this buck sent to the taxidermist to be fixed up and memorialized in my familyā€™s home forever.

2026 shed season is off and rolling! I am glad we got on the board before the big snow we just received here in Northern indiana. Public land can hold some hidden gems this time of year.
