We sometimes mistake consistency for authenticity. If we act one way with one person and another way somewhere else, it can be easy to wonder which version of us is the โrealโ one. But people are rarely that simple. We respond to the environments we are in, the memories they carry, and the sense of safety we feel within them.
Maybe the quieter version of you that comes out around certain people is real. So is the louder, more playful version that appears somewhere else. The thoughtful version who needs solitude, the spontaneous version who feels at home with old friends, the part of you that only seems to surface in places where you can finally let your guard down.
Different rooms can hold different memories, and different relationships can make different parts of us feel safe enough to appear. That doesn't necessarily mean you're changing who you are. It may simply mean you're discovering how many ways there are to be yourself.
Identity doesn't always have to be one fixed, consistent thing. Sometimes it is a collection of selves we've gathered along the way, each carrying a different story, and all belonging to the same person.
At Kairos Wellness, we believe there is room for every season and every part of you. You don't have to reduce yourself to a single version just to make yourself easier to understand.
