Today's training class was full of wagging tails and hard work! These shelter dogs are all looking for loving homes of their own. Every lesson helps build confidence, manners, and adoptability.

Learning socialization skills through the Diamonds Program gave Draco the chance to finally have a playmate at the shelter — Sadie. The two had been "in love" through the fence for months, but never had the chance to properly meet. Yesterday, Tyler told Alyssa, “That’s it, we’re doing it,” and walked her through the introduction. Thanks to Draco’s progress and growing confidence, the meet was a success, and now he has a best friend.

Helping dogs learn how to peacefully coexist is one of the most important things we can practice. It’s always better to work through challenges before they suddenly appear in the real world.

In class, the dogs practiced walking with and around other dogs while working through distractions. We added sudden stops, sit stays, and down stays to help them slow down, think, and look to their handlers for guidance instead of reacting to the environment around them.

Each successful repetition helps build trust, confidence, and communication. The more these dogs practice these skills, the easier everyday life becomes — and the more prepared they are for a successful adoption and future home. 🐾

Today, Spike, Boomer, Pinky, and Draco all worked hard to shine. Sit stays and down stays were a success for everyone, and Draco even had his introduction to “find it.” The class also practiced walking around other dogs and distractions, helping build focus and confidence. Safe to say these pups were mentally stimulated and ready to relax after using their brains today.

They got a full dose of mental stimulation, worked through their training, and wrapped things up with some proper, structured socialization. It’s always great to see them thinking, learning, and building confidence together.

A productive day all around with some very good dogs putting in the work!
