Chatfield High School Cross Country

Chatfield High School Cross Country This is the page of the Chatfield, Minnesota, High School cross country team. The Gophers are a group of hard-working, fun-loving distance runners.

Chatfield briefly had cross country in the late 1970s and again in the early 1980s. The program was revived as a club sport in 1998, then added as an official school sport in 1999. Chris Frye founded the club and has been the team's only head coach. Jayna (Tangen) Harstad is in her second season as the only assistant coach in the team's history. Coach Harstad ran in five State meets for the Gophers, finishing as high as third. The Gophers compete in the Third Rivers Conference and Section 1A.

☠️ The one and only Death Valley Cross Country Meet is just TWO months away on October 6! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We’re excited to partner with Threads to offer both a short-sleeve and long-sleeve commemorative Death Valley Run shirt!

Important: All shirts must be pre-ordered and will be available for pick up at the meet. There will be no shirts available for purchase on race day, so don’t miss your chance!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Cross Country Families! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Today (Monday, July 27) is our last summer run before the official season begins—which means it's time for our annual Summer Scavenger Hunt! 🎉

📍 Meet at the track at 6:30 PM.

It's going to be a hot one, so we'll shorten the route as needed and make sure everyone stays safe. Please bring a water bottle! 💧

See you tomorrow for one last summer adventure!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Chatfield Cross Country Update! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

The start of the season is less than ONE MONTH away! 🎉 Practice officially begins Monday, August 17 at 5:00 PM.

Now is a great time to get your paperwork taken care of. Incoming 7th graders (and many sophomores) will need an updated sports physical before they can begin practice. Athletic paperwork is available outside the Athletic Director's office at the high school.

Summer Running – TODAY!
📍 Coach DeBuhr's house (1058 John and Mary Dr.)
🕡 6:30–7:30 PM

With another hot evening in the forecast, we'll shorten the run, work on running form, and cool off with a sprinkler.

Bring a friend and come join us! We can't wait to see everyone as we get ready for another great cross country season! 💙💛

🌡️ Cross Country Update 🌡️

Due to the projected heat index reaching the 90s this evening, summer cross country running has been canceled to keep everyone safe.

Please note that next week (July 6) is the MSHSL No Contact Week, so there will be no summer running next Monday as well.

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Returning varsity runners are encouraged to get some miles in on their own. If possible, the morning hours will be the safest and coolest time to run.

📅 Our next scheduled summer run will be Monday, July 13.
