Bushiken Karate Charlotte Dojo Traditional Japanese Karate-dojo Oyama Karate is a classic, full-contact Japanese style of Karate that enjoys a rich history and tradition.

In 1965, Mas Oyama, Director of the International Kyokushin Organization, sent his chief instructor, Soshu Shigeru Oyama, from Tokyo international headquarters to New York to spread Kyokushin Karate worldwide. Seven years later, Mas Oyama sent another of his Kyokushin chief instructors, Soshi-Saiko Shihah Yasuhiko Oyama (brother of Soshu Shigeru Oyama), from Tokyo to Birmingham, Alabama, to contin

ue the growth of the Kyokushin style. In 1985, Soshu Shigeru Oyama and Soshi-Saiko Shihan Yasuhiko Oyama founded the World Oyama Karate Organization as an independent organization and continue to serve as its directors. Today, over 150 official World Oyama Karate dojos operate in 19 countries.
