Today’s practice was a mix of back-to-basics technique - focusing on rotation and lengthening our strokes, followed by race pieces to put it all into action. Because the best way to paddle faster is to paddle better first!

Curious about steering but worried you’ll accidentally take us to Folly Beach? 😂 Our coaching staff will teach you everything you need to know - no experience required, just a willingness to learn and occasionally hear 20 paddlers offer “helpful” advice from the boat.

We had four BRAND NEW paddlers in the boat last night - and we’re pretty sure they caught the paddling bug! 🐉🛶
They jumped right in, even tackled some race pieces, and did an amazing job keeping up with the crew. We hope this was just the first of many practices with them… because once the paddling bug bites, there’s really no cure. 😉🔥

🐉💙 10 Official Years of Charleston Paddle Club! 💙🐉
Today wasn’t about racing, medals or miles - it was about celebrating 10+ years of paddling, friendships, memories and community.
We loved welcoming back CPC alumni and their families to spend the afternoon with our current members, reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, sharing plenty of laughs and celebrating a club that has grown because of the incredible people who have been part of it along the way.
Some faces have changed, a few more gray hairs may have appeared 😉, but the camaraderie and love of being together hasn’t changed a bit.
We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has paddled with CPC, supported the club, volunteered, coached, steered, cheered us on and helped shape who we are today.
10 years down (really almost 15 but not counting… 😂) countless memories made, and plenty more adventures ahead. 🐲🛶
Here’s to the past, the present, and everyone who has been part of the CPC family, both dragon boat and outrigger!! 💙

🌧️ Mother Nature: “All morning practices are canceled.”
🐉 CPC: “Okay… but hear us out.” 😏
When the weather gave us a little window between the raindrops, we grabbed it! What started as an impromptu steers training session turned into almost 9.5 miles on the water. 💪🛶
Sometimes the best practices aren’t the ones on the schedule. A little rain, a lot of miles, and another steers person gaining confidence behind the boat. 🙌
Because apparently when CPC gets a weather cancellation, we just find another reason to paddle. 😂
Rain: 1 🌧️
CPC: 9.5 miles 🔥

⚡️ PRACTICE UPDATE: We’ve expanded into rideshare. 🐉🚕
When lightning keeps us off the river, we improvise.
A little stationary paddling. A little technique work. And apparently… a brand-new business venture. 😂
Introducing Uber Dragon 🐉

🚣 Vehicle: 20-passenger Dragon Boat
❄️ A/C: Whatever breeze is available
💨 Speed: Depends who showed up for practice
🍹 Destination: Happy Hour
While each paddler worked on technique, the rest of us discovered a dragon boat makes a surprisingly good Uber.
Mother Nature: “No paddling.”
CPC: “Fine. We’re still getting in the boat.” 😂🐉
Rain or shine, there’s always something happening at CPC. Come paddle with us… your first three rides—errr, practices—are on us. 😉

Race day doesn’t start at the starting line. 🔥🐉
It starts right here - race pace endurance drills, tired muscles and learning to keep the boat moving together when your body is telling you otherwise.
We’re putting in the work now so when we line up next month in Peachtree City, we’re ready to RACE. 💪🔥
But here’s the best part…
You don’t need ANY paddling experience to be part of this. Seriously. None.
If you love a challenge, have a competitive streak or are just looking for something completely different - come jump in the boat with us.
