August 3-14 (1 or 2 week options)

Weekly classes for dancers that have completed Ballet 2a or above will also be offered in the month of July.

Sending out congratulations to CBA alum Tess McMurry, who was accepted into the Orchesis Dance Company at Central Washington University (CWU) Orchesis Dance Company is a pre-professional, audition-only dance company that performs a range of styles including contemporary, ballet and tap.

Intermediate-advanced level ballet dancers! Join us for our intensive this August! Taught by regular CBA staff plus guest teachers. Today, we introduce one of the guest teachers who will join us this year:

Joel Myers received the majority of his training at the Evergreen City Ballet under artistic director Wade Walthall. He has performed as a company member with the Evergreen City Ballet, Tacoma City Ballet, Corpo and as a Principle Artist with Spectrum Dance Theater under Artistic Director Donald Byrd. He has also performed as a guest artist with Seattle Opera, Tacoma Opera, The 5th Ave Theater, Ballet Northwest, Ballet Bellevue, DASS Dance, Coriolis Dance Collective, Dance Peninsula Ballet and the Vuelta La Luna Circus. Joel has taught and choreographed for Evergreen City Ballet, the Tacoma School of the Arts, the school of Spectrum Dance Theater, Centralia Ballet Academy, Tacoma City Ballet and Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma.

Open to students currently in ballet 3 or above - or the equivalent at another school (generally minimum of 4 years formal training, ages 12 and up). Ballet 2b students, talk to us if you are interested.
Week 1: August 3-7 - 10am-3:30pm
Week 2: August 10-14 - 10am-3:30pm
Cost: $180 per week or $340 for both weeks

A gigantic thank you to everyone that helped make Recital 2026 great!

To our staff: Theresa, Kyle, Aris, Lisa, Wesley and Owen- our students are so lucky to have you and we appreciate all that you do for them.

To our parents: thank you for the countless ways that you helped this weekend (and prior) special shout outs to Malinda Wilhelmi for running front of house, Erin Nowa snd Randee Newberry for running backstage, Emily Smith and Sarah White with various costume and headpiece assistance, and so many more that jump in and help in countless ways.

To our tech crew- Jacob, Thomas and Bella

Special thanks to student assistants (some of which were missed in the program due to a miscommunication): Emma, Laney, Aurora, Nora, Samantha, Laurel, Roman and Ryan.

No doubt we are missing someone… it takes do many to put in a show like this. We appreciate you all!

We are heading into recital weekend! Before we get ready to celebrate all of our dancers, we want to take a moment for a senior feature. Lydia Smith began dancing at age 4 and has been with Centralia Ballet Academy since fifth grade. Her favorite roles she has danced include Wendy (Peter Pan), Sugar Plum Fairy and Clara (Nutcracker) and the Lilac Fairy and Princess Aurora (The Sleeping Beauty). Lydia has also done choir and theatre and played Ariel in "The Little Mermaid" with Tenino Young-at-Heart Theatre last summer. Among the Top 25 students in her class at W.F. West High School, Lydia will be attending Washington State University next year to study genetics and cell biology. Congratulations Lydia!

Not only is today Memorial Day, it is also ! May 25 was chosen as “National Tap Dance Day” as it is the birthday of Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, the famed tap dancer and all-around performer. It is.a celebration of the “multifaceted art form” featuring “a joyful and powerful aesthetic” that has had “a historic and continuing influence” on American culture (quoted text from the congressional resolution).

Since the day aligns with Memorial Day this year, we are flashing back to reictal 2016, when one of our tap classes did a number to "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." PC: Shanna Paxton

And yes, we are open for regular classes today. Next weekend is recital weekend!

On this Memorial Day, we remember and honor those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Happy ! This day was created in 2005 and is celebrated on May 24th because it is the birthdate of Queen Victoria of England. It is designed to “empower women to change their worlds, and to embrace their inner beauty.”

Tiaras are a big deal for girls in ballet. We love seeing them in these beautiful headpieces! Check out this sampling of CBA tiaras.

Rounding out our summer programs, today we feature out intermediate/advanced ballet intensive.

Summer is the perfect opportunity to get a lot of progress in a short period of time,. Our intensive includes daily ballet classes, as well as classes in pointe, men's technique, pas de deux, conditioning, jazz, contemporary and more. Taught by a combination of regular CBA staff and guest teachers. Open to students currently in ballet 3 and up. Ballet 2b students (or students from other studios), talk to us if you are interested.
