Welcome to our newest board member, Jerika Hartsock.

Jerika is a Licensed Massage Therapist at Eastside Square Therapeutic Massage, which is located within the back half of the Breathing Tree studio. She specializes in deep tissue massage with the use of CBD products and offers an intuitive touch and a safe space for clients to relax and bring awareness to their bodies.

For fifteen years, she was a part time bodyworker in various states while focusing her time and energy on the travel industry. After Covid, she moved away from her customer service and sales roles, to circle back to the body and dedicate herself full-time to massage.

Since moving back to Canton in 2021, she has enjoyed watching her hometown grow and thrive. As a member of the Altrusa Club of Canton and the Canton Community Concert Association, she has volunteered her time, energy, and resources to helping these organizations make an impact locally. As the newest board member of The Breathing Tree, she hopes to support the mission of healthy living, and community connection this studio has always offered.

“To me, The Breathing Tree is community. It’s a safe space to come together, without judgement, to support the health, both mental and physical, of our friends, family, and ourselves. TBT provides that with yoga and fitness classes, grief counseling groups, and workshops. These offerings support our people to ensure we stay healthy, keep active, and continue moving forward.”

Join us Fridays at 7:00 p.m. with Alicia Culbertson and/or this Sunday, June 21st, at 1:00 p.m. with Nathan Taylor for Sound Healing.

Sound healing is an ancient practice that uses various sound frequencies from Tibetan singing bowls to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve physical and mental well-being. It is based on the principle that everything in the universe is made up of energy and vibration, and that sound can be used to balance and harmonize this energy.

We have wrapped up a successful year of the Better Me programs, focusing on Kid's Yoga, at Lincoln, Eastview, and Westview Elementary schools. We'd like to thank our 2025-2026 Better Me sponsors--Hitchcock's Scrapyard, Chuck Taylor of State Farm Insurance, and Rusty Melhouse of Edward Jones--for their support of this program. The financial support provided training to teachers within each school and supplies to ensure the success of this after-school program.

The teachers summed up their experience:

"I believe the students are blessed to have the Better Me program available to them. This program is fun and engaging for them. It creates a space at school where yoga is accessible for young children. The Better Me program provides children the opportunity to learn that yoga is more than just poses. It teaches little poses have big benefits. Students were able to learn yoga is a fantastic way to stretch out the stress of their day. The repetitive poses, games, and breathing exercises built their confidence, made mind-body connections, and taught them self regulation tools. I believe the students who participated in this program built the foundation needed to continue yoga as they grow. Teaching this class after a long day at school brought me more gratitude and good health. I was encouraged by their smiling faces as they continue to get stronger in their poses." --Amy Anderson, Lincoln Elementary School

"I really enjoyed teaching yoga at Eastview through the Better Me program this year. It was amazing to watch the students grow in their confidence, open up during our conversations, and truly enjoy our time together. Seeing their confidence build throughout yoga and watching them support and encourage one another was such a rewarding experience." --Melissa Perrine, Eastview Elementary School

We're looking forward to the Better Me program again in the 2026-2027 school year.
