Two days ago we brought down Sergeant (just turned 3 year old gelding) from the top “kiddos and old horse pasture” to learn to be a part of the working herd. As you guys know, we call in the herd for rides and occasionally guide them down with a vehicle. Adding a new horse can mess up the entire flow for weeks—-if they act weird and won’t come or turn around etc sometimes the entire herd goes with them. There is SO MUCH hierarchy and sometimes panic in big a herd if one horse changes the vibe.

Anyhoo… Sergeant acted like he knew the drill! The first time we called them in this is what happened hahaha! Later that day he lead them ALL the way in himself😂🤪

Lefty❤️ 2 months!

5th halter breaking session

Going really slow and steady with him because he’s been jumpier and less trusting than Honey, but he’s come so far! Love this cutie! Sped up the video because it was too boring and long! But boring is good with all training things and horses 😍🤪

Honey❤️ 2.5 months

It may not look like much but Honey has learned so much in her 4 previous halter breaking sessions. Some days are better than others but she’s very willing when she’s not being a criminal! I take it very slowly (at first) and sessions short and sweet with these kiddos because they can hurt themselves so easily (throwing a fit). She’s not great at any of it yet but she now leads and backs up which is a lot more than 2 weeks ago🤪❤️ I do have to watch my back ha!!!
