100 workouts for Alisa!

When Alisa started at GROW a little over a year ago, she told us something a lot of parents can probably relate to:

With four kids, making time for herself was hard.

But she also knew it was time to start showing up for herself.

So she did.

Not perfectly. Not with a schedule that magically became less busy. And definitely not because every week suddenly became easy.

She just kept finding ways to make it work.

Sometimes that meant a different class time. Sometimes a week wasn't as consistent as she wanted. Eventually, she added semi-private training alongside group classes.

And all of those weeks have now added up to 100 workouts.

Along the way, she's gotten stronger, become more confident in the gym, improved her everyday movement, and made meaningful changes to the way she thinks about food and taking care of herself.

At 50 workouts, Alisa described one of the biggest things she'd learned:

“To give myself grace. Some weeks are awesome, and some just are not and that's ok too. One movement at a time, one workout at a time, just don't quit.”

And now she's at 100.

If you're waiting for your schedule to become perfectly predictable before you start taking care of yourself, you might be waiting a long time.

Sometimes you just have to start, and then keep figuring out how to make it work.

Congratulations on 100, Alisa!

250 workouts for Lisa!

When Lisa first reached out to GROW, she admitted that she had spent a long time avoiding getting started.

She was a former athlete and a busy mom who had spent years putting other people first. She wanted change, but even thinking about starting again felt overwhelming.

Fast forward about 16 months:

250 workouts. An average of more than 3.5 workouts every single week.

And when we asked what helped her get here, Lisa said something we think a lot of people need to hear:

“I've realized that you don't need motivation when you are disciplined.”

She went on to explain that she rarely actually wants to head to the gym, but she leaves feeling better every single time. Training has become a reminder that she's capable of doing hard things and that being able to move her body is a privilege.

That's such an important distinction.

You don't have to wake up excited to work out.

You don't have to wait until life calms down.

And you definitely don't have to feel “ready.”

Sometimes you make the decision first. Then you keep making it.

Eventually, those decisions add up.

For Lisa, they've added up to 250 workouts and counting.

Congratulations, Lisa! We're incredibly proud of you.

September has a way of bringing routine back.

Vacations slow down. Kids go back to school. Schedules start becoming a little more predictable.

If you've been saying, "I'll get back into a routine once summer is over," this is your chance.

You don't need to start with five workouts a week.

Start by finding a couple times you can consistently protect for yourself.

We currently have room in our 4:30 PM and 5:45 PM classes and we'd love to help you build that routine.

A special shout-out to Brandy S. for earning Committed Club recognition for the first time this year!

Bill S., Lisa S., Jason H., Nancy W., Angela S., Heather M., Joni R. and Dana T. have also reached Committed Club every month of 2026 so far. Eight months in a row is an incredible example of what long-term consistency looks like.

At GROW Strength & Training, members earn Committed Club recognition by attending at least 13 group classes in a month or completing all of their scheduled Personal Training or Semi-Private sessions.

Why does this matter? Results aren’t built through one perfect workout or one highly motivated week. They’re built by continuing to show up month after month, even when schedules change, life gets busy or motivation isn’t especially high.

We’re proud of every member on this list for continuing to invest in their strength and health.

One of the biggest differences between following a workout online and having a coach?

The workout online can't see you.

It doesn't know that your shoulder has been bothering you.

It doesn't know that the weight you chose is too light today and you're capable of more.

It doesn't know when you need a modification, or when you just need someone to remind you that yes, you CAN do it.

Programming matters.

But coaching the person doing the program matters even more.

Sometimes the thing your body needs isn't MORE intensity.

Strength matters. Conditioning matters. So does being able to move well and recover.

That's why mobility is part of what we do at GROW too.

We're not interested in beating your body up for the sake of saying you had a hard workout.

We're interested in helping you build a stronger body that continues doing what you ask of it.

You don't need to know how to lift before joining a gym.

That's part of why we're here.

Our coaches teach the movements, watch your form, help you choose appropriate weights and adjust exercises when needed.

Especially if strength training is new to you, you shouldn't have to figure everything out by yourself.

Our 4:30 PM and 5:45 PM classes currently have room for new members.

Come in, meet us and talk about your goals at a FREE No Sweat Intro:

Strength training isn't just about how much weight you can lift.

It's about making everyday life easier.

Carrying groceries. Getting up and down from the floor. Traveling. Playing with your kids or grandkids. Maintaining your independence as you get older.

That's why our goal at GROW isn't to get you in shape for the next 30 days.

We want to help you build strength you can use for years.

Your workout doesn't have to take over your entire evening.

Our 4:30 PM and 5:45 PM classes give you a coached workout where you can walk in, follow the plan, get your work done and move on with your night.

No figuring out what exercises to do.

No wandering around the gym wondering which equipment is available.

No needing to already know what you're doing.

Just show up. We'll coach you through the rest.

We currently have room in our evening classes. Start with a FREE No Sweat Intro to see if GROW is a good fit for you:

WE’RE GROWING OUR COACHING TEAM 💪

GROW Strength & Training is looking for a Part-Time Personal Trainer / On-Ramp Coach to join our team in Byron Center!

This role is a little different than simply picking up a few group fitness classes.

We’re looking for someone who wants to become part of our coaching team, work with new members as they begin their strength training journey, and gradually build their coaching schedule over time.

This role could include:

• Coaching new-member On-Ramp sessions
• Building into 1:1 and semi-private personal training
• Anchoring at least one consistent group class each week
• Subbing additional group classes when available
• Growing into additional opportunities as GROW continues to grow

Our ideal coach loves working with everyday adults and beginners, believes in strength training for long-term health, communicates well, and genuinely enjoys building relationships with the people they coach.

This is a part-time, variable-hour position with room to grow, so it could be a great fit for a coach looking to gradually build their personal training career.

Interested, or know someone who might be a great fit?
