One of the biggest mistakes adults make during summer is believing they have two options:

âś… Stay perfectly consistent

OR

❌ Completely fall off

But there is a lot of space between those two extremes.

Maybe you can't make 4 workouts per week right now.

Maybe you're traveling.

Maybe your kids' sports schedule has completely taken over your evenings.

That doesn't mean you've failed.

The adults who stay successful year after year aren't the ones who never miss.

They're the ones who never quit.

I wrote a new blog about summer fitness consistency, avoiding the all-or-nothing mindset, and staying active during busy seasons.

Read it here:

What's one thing you do to stay active when life gets busy?

Meet Coach Alexandra đź‘‹

We're excited to officially welcome Alexandra to the GROW coaching team.

Alexandra's path into coaching wasn't a straight line.

After graduating from Hope College with a degree in Accounting and Business, she spent several years working in accounting before realizing her true passion was helping people through fitness.

She became a certified personal trainer, made a full career change, and spent over two years coaching clients full-time in Chicago before moving back to West Michigan with her husband to start their family.

Now as a first-time mom to baby Teddy, she's returning to coaching and helping our members build strength, confidence, and consistency.

When we asked Alexandra what she loves most about fitness, she said:

"Fitness centers me. No matter what kind of day I'm having, movement helps me feel my best mentally and physically."

A few fun facts:
✔️ Favorite lifts: Hip Thrusts, Deadlifts, and Rows
✔️ Loves cooking and baking
✔️ Enjoys gardening and traveling
✔️ Believes the best part of coaching is building relationships

If you see Alexandra in class, introduce yourself and help her continue learning everyone's names!

Welcome to the team, Alexandra!

A lot of our members are balancing:
• work
• kids
• family schedules
• stress
• lack of energy
• years of putting themselves last

That’s why we focus on sustainable fitness instead of all-or-nothing approaches.

You don’t need perfect motivation.
You need a plan that works with real life.

3 years. Over 440 sessions. And it all started with simply showing up.

When Danielle joined GROW, she wasn't chasing perfection. She was looking for a way to improve her health, build strength, and create a routine she could stick with.

Three years later, that's exactly what she's done.

When asked what she's most proud of, her answer wasn't a specific PR or number on the scale.

"I guess I'm most proud of being consistent and making a habit of showing up to the gym at least three times a week. I am so much stronger and more confident in myself and can get up off the floor without using the coffee table!"

That's what long-term strength training looks like.

Over the past three years, Danielle has built a routine of training 3-4 times per week, improved her nutrition, increased her protein intake, gained muscle, decreased body fat, doubled her dead hang time, and is now working toward her first pull-up.

But perhaps the biggest change isn't what happened in the gym.

It's the confidence that comes from keeping promises to yourself week after week, year after year.

Because most people don't transform their lives with one big decision.

They do it by showing up on ordinary days when nobody is watching.

Congratulations on 3 years, Danielle. We're proud of everything you've accomplished and excited to see what the next chapter brings.

Strength training should feel approachable.

That’s why every workout at GROW includes coaching, exercise modifications when needed, and guidance on weights, technique, and movement quality.

Whether someone is brand new or more experienced, the goal is helping each person train at the right level for them.

If you’ve been thinking about getting started, our No Sweat Intro is the first step. Link in bio.

At GROW, Committed Club means completing 13 or + workouts during the month, or completing 100% of your scheduled personal training or semi-private training sessions. It's our way of recognizing consistency, because consistency is what drives results.

Special shoutout to Michelle and Brenda for hitting Committed Club for the first time in 2026!

And another special shoutout to Bill, Lisa, Angela, Joni, Dana, Jason, Danielle, Heather, and Nancy, who are working toward hitting Committed Club every single month in 2026. Five months down, seven to go!

The truth is, fitness success rarely comes from one perfect workout. It comes from showing up again and again, even on the days when motivation isn't high.

We're proud of every one of you for continuing to invest in your health, strength, and future.

Help us celebrate these members in the comments! 👏

A lot of adults have spent years starting over.

Starting workouts.
Stopping workouts.
Trying random plans.
Losing motivation.

One of the biggest changes we see in members is finally building consistency they can actually maintain.

Not perfection.
Not extremes.
Just learning how to keep showing up.

There’s a big difference between exercising randomly and training with purpose.

At GROW, members follow structured progressions so they can:
• build confidence with movements
• improve strength safely
• understand progression
• see measurable improvements over time

The goal isn’t to destroy yourself every workout.
The goal is to continue getting stronger for years.

One of the biggest misconceptions in fitness is believing every workout should leave you exhausted.

More sweat does not automatically mean better programming.

Strength training, conditioning, and core work all serve different purposes and create different adaptations in the body.

As we age, strength training becomes one of the most important things we can do for:
• muscle preservation
• bone density
• independence
• longevity
• confidence
• injury prevention

But conditioning still matters too:
• heart health
• work capacity
• stamina
• recovery

The key is balance and intentional programming.

I wrote a new blog explaining:
• why strength training matters so much as we age
• why not every workout should feel the same
• why core training is more than just “feeling the burn”
• how we intentionally structure classes at GROW

Read it here:

Busy adults do not need a 2-hour workout.

They need something realistic.

Our group classes are 45 minutes and coach-led from start to finish so members can come in, follow the plan, and get a quality workout without having to think about programming everything themselves.

That structure is what finally helps consistency stick.
