Hello everyone,

Can you believe it is the last day of August! This year has sure raced by. The Cal Club board of Directors have been working hard all summer long getting ready for 2027. Exciting things coming and I know some amazing racing.

Few things to remember:

Starting JANUARY 2027 the 2015 helmets will no longer be eligible, you will need to have a 2020 helmet or newer

You will see on the 2027 schedule November 2026 is listed, that is because it is actuall a Majors for 2027, but remember the event will pay points for the 2026 Cal Club Championship as well as the 2027 Cal Club championship and of course the 2027 Majors

There are two events that are TBD, the February event is awaiting approval from the SCCA National office and the October event is still in the planning stage. We will let you all know as soon as we know when events are approved.

We hope to see many of you starting at the Back to Racing Regional and Track Day October 17-18, 2027, Autumn in the central valley is the best time of year and the October event is always fun. Registration is open: https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/cal-club-championship-regional-track-day-buttonwillow-raceway-classic-270732

Until then we wish all our volunteers and racers headed to Road America for the SCCA National Championship safe travels a

I’m wondering if anyone could help solve a small mystery. This pic was posted in a Riverside group and someone asked who was drving no. 95. I looked it up and found the driver was Bob Williams from Santa Monica, who only had two pro starts. But he must’ve raced SCCA and done well, because he qualified 3rd before crashing out of the race.
Does anyone remember a driver named Bob Williams? I know it’s not exactly an unusual name, so there might’ve been more than one but he probably would have been a CalClub member because he was from Santa Monica.

It is with profound sadness that I must inform you all that Keith Rood, flagger, has passed away. Keith was the AZ flag chief and a huge supporter of Cal Club. Ketih's dedication and enthusiasm was infectious. He leaves behind a wife, two small children, his beloved sister, brother in law and so many racing friends.

If you like to help the family out or send cards, please email the office and I will send you an address.
