Making most the of our rained out games today. We have 8 of our travel baseball teams in Providence, RI area for the Firecracker Baseball 6th Annual Memorial Day Patriotic Bash Tournament. We found a facility “The Fieldhouse” that we were able to rent to get our teams some swings. Hoping rain clears out, so we can play tomorrow.

Sluggers is so incredibly proud of these 3 former Sluggers travel players now at the University of Southern Maine. All three have had amazing rookie seasons on field and in classroom.

Emily Wheeler started at 3B in all 35 games of Huskies season. Emily batted a very impressive .433 in her rookie campaign with 7 doubles & 5 triples. In addition to be one of the finalist for Little East Conference Rookie of the Year, she was named to the LEC All Rookie Team. Emily is majoring in Health Sciences and plans to do the Masters Program as well.

Kaiden Morin started behind the dish for the Huskies in 25 of their 40 games, so far. He batted a hefty .374 in his first year with 6 doubles and 24 RBIs. And has an outstanding .99% Fielding Percentage. He was named the to Little East Conference 3rd team as a Catcher. Kaiden is a Business Major.

Hayden Strout was regular starting pitcher for the Huskies all year. He recorded a 5-1 record, striking out 29 batters in 48 innings pitched and complied an 3.38 E.R.A. in his rookie season. As a result of these incredible stats Hayden was named Little East Conference Rookie of the Year! Hayden is an Excerise Science major.

Despite the USM Softball team having several key players incur season ending injuries they still managed a very respectable 23-12 record. Unfortunately, they barely missed the LEC playoffs this year.

The USM Huskies Baseball team won the LEC Tournament and earned a birth into the NCAA Division III Regionals which starts today vs Babson . Because of weather concerns today’s game has been moved from USM to Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME.
