Our plan was to head out to Eagle this weekend for Eagle nationals. Unfortunately, I am too busy with work. It’s surely a bummer as I was really looking forward to going. Looking forward, we have two more races at Jackson for the Jackson Nationals. Goodluck to everyone heading down for Nationals!

Weekend recap

Thursday 8/27 Worthington Speedway

Heat 6th -> 3rd
Feature 5th-> 7th

Had a good night going in the heat and feature. I didn’t tighten up enough and stayed on the cushion too long before the rubber came in. Ended up falling back from 4th to 7th.

Friday 8/28 Rapid Speedway

Heat 3rd -> 2nd
Feature 6th -> 1st

One of the best tracks I’ve raced on at rock rapids. We were able to make a pass for the lead in traffic and then ran away for the second win of the season.

Sunday 8/30 Husets

Heat 4th -> 2nd
Feature 1st -> 2nd

Made a move in the first corner to get to second in the heat. Redrew the pole. I ran the bottom in 1&2 for too long and got slid. I had to check up quite a bit as I saw the slider coming. I should’ve returned the favor, but didn’t drive it up the track hard enough. With three to go, I had a run where I felt I could’ve followed and then threw a slider in 3, but the yellow came out. On the restart I hit the cushion too hard and got tight. Had to protect and didn’t have anything after that. Ultimately finishing second for the second week in a row and coming up short in the points battle as well. I am pretty upset with how it all turned out. I really wanted to win the championship for my self, my pit help, and for my sponsors. We all put so much into this. Coming up second is probably the worst feeling in the world.

I want to thank my sponsors for giving me the opportunity to grow in my third year. I’ve come a long ways with my race craft this year. I am hungry to get what we all deserve next year, and that’s a Husets championship.

Thank you to all the fans who have bought merchandise and cheered me on all season. I’m sorry I couldn’t seal the deal.

Congrats to Lee on the championship. To say we are giving a multi time national champion a run for a championship is special. But I expect more from myself than where we ended up.

Husets Speedway results

Time trails: QuickTime/new 305 track record
Heat: 4->3
Feature: 1->2

Started the night fast out of the box with QuickTime. Based on the format I knew I just needed to get in the top 4 to get into the redraw. We redrew the 1! After leading the first 10 laps, we ended up getting passed. At one point we were back to fourth and raced our way back to second. I didn’t think the track would open up quite like it did. The car was simply way too loose and I had some bad laps not hitting the top. That’s racing sometimes. With one more race left at husets we are 3 points back for the championship.

Next up is Worthington Thursday, Rock Rapids Friday, and Husets Sunday!
