What a weekend at Music City Kartplex for the Rhythm & Race Series Round 5!
Practice got off to a great start with Owen putting down the second-fastest lap. Qualifying didn’t quite go our way, though, and he lined up P6 for the heat. We just didn’t have enough time to get the tires where they needed to be.
He drove a smart, clean heat race, defended well, and brought it home in P6 to start the feature.
By the time the final rolled around at nearly 9:00 PM, the track had cooled off and the dew was starting to settle in, making conditions even more challenging. The front group included two national-level drivers and one very fast local racer. Owen fought hard, but after getting separated from that lead pack, he found himself in another battle. He stayed composed, raced clean, and brought the MGM Chassis home in a solid 4th-place finish.
Most importantly, it was a weekend with no contact, no damage, and a kart that’s ready for the next race. We’ll take that every time.
I’ve said it before, but the karting community is something special. There are always people willing to lend a hand, share advice, or help another family. Owen’s friendships continue to grow well beyond Bowling Green. We’ve become great friends with numerous racers and their family’s. Owen just got back from a week and a half with a friend, Fisher Graham, and his family in Arkansas. Those relationships are every bit as valuable as the racing.
A huge thank you to Grid Walk for always capturing these incredible moments.
Now it’s time to get ready for the next one. We’re looking to put the MGM Chassis powered by Lawson Speed Shop and supported by NCM Insurance Agency Collector Vehicle Insurance, NCM Motorsports Park, and National Corvette Museum on the podium!
