On May 2, 2026 12 team members traveled to Winterset, IA to compete in a fun synchronized trampoline competition for all levels.

Those of you who are new to the world of tumbling & trampoline, synchronized trampoline is when the athletes jump with a partner and do the same routine at the same time. This event is not usually competed until the Intermediate & higher level in AAU & the Sub Advanced & higher level in USTA.

There are many components to think about when choosing pairs from how tall they, body weight, how high they jump to how they perform their skills. I think we did pretty good at pairing up the ones who wanted to give it a try.

The kids had a fantastic time learning to jump synchro, the growth in just 3 practices that these kids made learning to work as a team but it also helps make their routine better.

They all did an amazing job & can't to do the meet again in the future & this old coach is considering doing a fun meet like this sometime next season also.

I missed getting photos of one group of kids due to warmup going on with other pairs. Please add photos of these pairs if you have photos: Lydia & Dimitri, Milena & Amelia, Kiki & Gracelyn

Please see the videos of each of our pairs in the comments.

Long Overdue Post!!!! (my life has finally slowed down a bit this month)

On April 18 & 19, 2026 our team hosted the 2026 USTA State Tumbling & Trampoline meet at the Boone High School. This competition is the biggest meet of the season for Iowa USTA as it is the qualifying meet for the National meet which will be held in Madison, WI June 15-20, 2026. All of the athletes in Iowa must attend this meet & receive a qualifying placing to compete at the National competition.

Iowa USTA celebrated 55 years this season. Our meet theme was "Built By Legends, Powered By USTA Stars!" The meaning behind the theme was to honor all of those who have helped build Iowa USTA to what it is today & to celebrate all of the athletes who really are the stars of the sport! This meet was a special one as the coaches & judges reminisced about years past of those who have passed & those who are still with us.

The 2026 State meet brought in 705 athletes with a total of 1,312 events over the course of the 2-day competition. This is a big undertaking for any team to host & one that I can say our ELITE parents rose up bigger than I could have ever imagined and ran this meet like they had been running it for many years.

It was the most efficient state meet that I as a coach have ever been done coaching by 4 p.m. both days with the meet running on time or ahead.

THANK YOU & SHOUT OUT to all of our awesome ELITE parents, athletes & additional family members, friends & former ELITE parents. You are the very reason that our gym is one of the BEST tumbling & trampoline gyms in Iowa! So many great comments were made & emails sent about the meet we hosted and all I can say is WOW you are all amazing! You are truly valued & appreciated and thank you is just not enough.

To my group leaders - thank you for stepping up & leading our team to such a successful weekend, without you things would not have run smoothly & I know it is a big undertaking to lead an area but you all did an amazing job.....THANK YOU!

A thank you to all of the businesses & families that donated to our event our team & USTA organization truly appreciate your support & you helped to make our event very memorable (a formal thank will go out to each business as soon as our team group photo is ready for this season):

This is so very true & a good coach doesn't coach just for today they coach where they want the athlete to be 5 years from now.

Trusting the process is important in skill development. Most don’t want to have the patience or give it a chance but rather leave or drift off into the fast lane, “I need it NOW”. Why should they trust the process and take things slow?
Trusting the process allows the brain to process and organize motor patterns. This is a slow trustworthy process. I have seen many rush the process that doesn’t allow the brain to take its time to process and organize motor patterns, this leads to a disruption in motor control that is unorganized and miscommunication between the mind and body. This is a major issue that leads to injuries. This is what many call it a “mental block”. It’s not it’s a mental block it’s a nervous system disruption of motor control pattern. Rushing the process doesn’t allow the brain to have the time to process what’s happening so you are safe and confidence.

A few things that can disrupt the nervous system.
1. Compare yourself to others and other teams.
2. Technology- being on phones making videos to get the “likes”. Great you are inspired by those Instagram, YouTube, til toc videos but that is the surface level. You don’t know what truly happens behind the scene of success.
3. Coaches who needs kids to succeed to find their ego.
4. Rushing the process doesn’t give the time the brain to process things. It also leads to burnout by the time kids reach high school age.

The brain is like a muscle, less is more. Muscle needs to rest to repair itself. Brain needs rest to lock in plasticity(Neuroplasticity).

For success- Trust the process and be S-L-O-W!!

Reminder the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

Happy Tumbling,
Tumbles
