One of my BIGGEST PET PEEVES as a nutrition coach…

CHEAT MEALS! 🍹🍕🍩🍟🍻

You’ll never hear me refer to “going off your nutrition program” as a cheat meal.

I think there’s a really negative mindset that comes with labeling some foods as “cheat meals”.

It creates a scarcity, binge mindset and overall, a guilt feeling about eating this meal.

▶️ The way I talk with my clients about eating foods they like that may be on the “less healthy” side is having an 80/20 approach. ◀️

80% of the foods you eat are quality nutrient dense foods & 20% of the foods are “less healthy” foods you enjoy! 🍦

🚨 Now if you’re in a weight loss calorie deficit your 80/20 looks like 90/10 while you’re in the deficit in order to see the best possible results while maintaining your sanity! 🤯

You DIDN’T gain 2-6lbs overnight even if you ate & drank A LOT over the holiday weekend & the scale shows it 🤯

👉🏻the weight increase you might be seeing on the scale is caused by retaining extra water (which happens when you eat more carbs and sodium than normal).

NO BIG DEAL. DON’T PANIC 😅

Just get back to your normal routine:
👉🏻drink lots of water (90-120oz/day)
👉🏻eat how you normally eat
👉🏻workout
👉🏻get your steps in (7-10k/day is optimal)
👉🏻get enough sleep (7-9 hrs/night)

After a few days back into your routine, your body & weight will be back to just how it was before the holiday weekend! ✨

❌ WHAT NOT TO DO:
-crash diet
-cut carbs
-do extra cardio🥵
-workout more than normal

You don’t want to do these things because they MAY help in the very short term but long term they are making your body composition goals WAY harder. 🥵

Proof you can make progress without extreme dieting + living in the gym as a busy mom.

I lost 33lbs (of 35 total pregnancy weight) in 8 months postpartum as a repeat c-section mom of 2.

• Working out 3–4x/week at home 💪🏼
• Exclusively Breastfeeding 🍼
• 7–10k steps/day 👟
• Eating 130 grams of protein/day 🥩
• Eating over 2000 calories/day 🥘
• Drinking enough water💦
• Focusing on sleep even though I’ve only slept through the night 2 times in the last 4 months. 😴
• Going on date nights & out for drinks🍹🌮

I’ve done it myself & I’ve helped many other women lose weight & feel more confident in their bodies too!
