Abuse isn’t always what people expect it to be. It’s not always physical. It doesn’t always leave visible marks, but it can still quietly break someone from the inside out.
For a long time, I believed the same thing many women are taught to believe, that abuse only counts if there are bruises, scratches, or obvious violence. If none of that was happening, then maybe it was just “normal relationship problems.” Maybe he was just a “mean guy.” Maybe I was overthinking it.
But the truth is, emotional, mental, sexual, and financial abuse can exist in ways that are subtle, repeated, and deeply damaging, even when no one else can see it.
I remember reaching a point where I completely broke down. I was alone in the bathroom, in the dark, after eight years in that relationship. I was curled up on the floor, crying uncontrollably, feeling like I didn’t even understand what was happening to me anymore.
And in that moment, I did something so simple, but it changed everything.
I searched: “Why is my boyfriend bullying me?”
What I found in those few minutes completely shifted my reality. It gave words to what I had been living through. It helped me understand that what I was experiencing wasn’t just “bad behavior”, it was narcissistic abuse. Mental. Emotional. Sexual. Financial control. All of it.
And just like that, something clicked. I sat up, wiped my tears, and for the first time in years, I saw my situation clearly. Awareness didn’t just explain my pain, it opened the door to a completely new life.
I’m sharing this because so many women are living inside situations they haven’t even been able to name yet. And naming it is where everything begins to change.
Because once you see it clearly, you can no longer unsee it, and that’s where your transformation starts.
And that’s exactly why I talk about spaces like H Club, a place built for women who are ready to rebuild, rise, and actually scale their lives and businesses.
