Our kickboxing team did amazing work last night at the IKF Midwest fights last night in Lawrence. As with all fight camps there were obstacles and adversity each of our fighters went through but always they came ready to fight. We had some obstacles fight day with information and equipment. Big shoutout to James Clingerman for the emergency resupply on shinguard when we found that the event did not supply the required cloth shins. But ultimately every one of our fighters locked in at fight time. Eden Weinstein started the night off with a full rules Muay Thai fight against a game opponent. Eden's strong elbow game let to cuts on his opponent and a 3 round decision. This put him in the champion fight for his division. Next up was Shelby Megnin fighting under "unified rules" aka K-1 rules. She dominated through two rounds and then got the TKO stoppage in the 3rd round. She also temporarily broke the ring with her clinch....This was only fight her division making her the Champ! Xavier Craft was up next with a single fight in the b class full Muay Thai rules division for the championship. He had a dominant three round fight against a game opponent who chose to clinch with him a lot (generally a poor life choice when dealing with Xavier). Xavier used great kick entries heavy hands, knees and elbows in the clinch to easily secure the championship belt. Eden ended out our night in the ring with his championship bout for his division. We didn't stay long....Again Eden elbow game came into play early and often. He secured a first round TKO victory to take the division! 4-0 on the night with 3 division titles....not bad. All of these folks did amazing work and I could be prouder of them. Thanks to teammates that came to support and help. Special shoutout to coach Austin Todd for working the corner with me, his help and knowledge is always great to have in there. On to the next one!
