Happy Halloween from everyone at Bend Park and Recreation District! May your day be filled with the seasonal fun of the day. BPRD Halloween activities include:
- Halloween Skate, Oct. 31 at 12:30 – 3:15 p.m., and 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Wear a costume, skate and enjoy some treats!
- Halloween Hat Day & Spookercise at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center and Larkspur Community Center. Water Fitness classes encourage fun hats and land-based fitness classes feature costumes for ghoulish fun.

Did you vote yet? If not, Tuesday, Nov. 3 is the day!
And did you know BPRD has two different ballot drop-off locations? There is one at the parking lot across from The Pavilion and another at Pine Nursery Park. So, why not drop off your ballot and then go play some pickleball, walk, roll or ice skate.
- Pine Nursery Park: 3750 NE Purcell Blvd. The ballot box is located at the east end of the parking lot.
- Pavilion overflow parking lot: 1000 SW Bradbury Way. The ballot box is located across from The Pavilion off of Simpson & Columbia.

No-school days for the Bend-La Pine School District are coming up on Oct. 18 - 30, and we've got some fun opportunities for kiddos! The no-school day schedule varies by age, so be sure to check the school district website for details.

For littles wanting to make a splash, we are offering recreation swim sessions every day at Juniper.
- Wednesday: Parent Child Swim (7:00 am - 9:00 am, 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm)
- Thursday: Parent Child Swim (7:00 am - 8:00 am, 12:45 pm - 2:30 pm, 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm)
- Friday: Parent Child Swim (7:00 am - 1:00 pm, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm), Open Swim (1:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

Kiddos who like to slide and glide should drop into one of the public ice skating sessions available at the Pavilion.
- Wednesday: Open Skate (9:00 am - 11:15 am), Cheap Skate Only $8 (1:00 pm - 2:45 pm)
- Thursday: With A Child Skate - Only $8 (9:00 am - 10:45 am), Open Skate (1:00 pm - 3:30 pm)
- Friday: Open Skate (2:15 pm - 4:00 pm, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm)

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Ask a PT Week at Juniper and Larkspur. With presentations, PT assessments and fitness classes, lots of folks learned how to keep their bodies moving and happy, from head to toe.

The district will return to regular operations for registration recreation programs beginning Monday, Oct. 19, with a few exceptions:
- BPRD programs using school locations (Kids Inc, athletic fields, etc.) will resume in alignment with Bend-La Pine Schools' reopening on Wed, Oct. 21.
- School-affiliated programs using BPRD facilities (i.e. water polo) will resume their practices on Wednesday, Oct. 21, to align with school district events and athletics.

Drop-in activities at recreation facilities are available for youth and adults. Check schedules for details. bendparksandrec.org.

Additional community support events offered this weekend, Oct. 17-18, at Larkspur Community Center by community partners. Deschutes County Health Services, St. Charles Health System, and Bend-La Pine Schools will continue offering free, walk-in community support for families, students, first responders and educators following the tragedy at Silver Rail Elementary.

The Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) drop-in sessions will provide crisis stabilization, emotional support, and a safe space for community healing.

Location: Larkspur Community Center, 1600 SE Reed Market Rd, Bend
Saturday, Oct. 17, from 1 to 6 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 18, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Cost: Free and open to all community members. No registration required.

-- Trained crisis response professionals and peers will be available to help individuals process stress responses, offer guidance on supporting children through trauma, and connect families to regional care resources.
-- Immediate 24/7 Crisis Resources: The Deschutes County Stabilization Center is open 24 hours a day for immediate, walk-in mental health support at 63311 NE Jamison St. in Bend. Individuals can also call the local crisis line at 541-322-7500 ext. 9 or call/text the national hotline at 988.

The community is processing Thursday's tragedy at Silver Rail Elementary, and we want to respect the needs of community members and our staff.
-- BPRD is canceling all registration recreation programs through Sunday, Oct. 18, including youth soccer, flag football and swim lessons. Cancellations are being communicated directly to patrons and updates are posted at bendparksandrec.org.
-- BPRD's parks, trails and recreation centers, Juniper Swim & Fitness Center and Larkspur Community Center, are open for community use.
Time in nature and with others can be incredibly helpful in difficult times, and we hope BPRD's shared spaces provide comfort.
