Our hearts have to share this post about a local fundraising race happening this Sunday 10/25 in Beckley, WV. Proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House. (Not an Active SWV Race, but fully supported).
515 runners.
That is the number of participants in the Bridge Day 5K.
Seeing that many people show up made me think about what we could accomplish together for Rowdey’s Hustle for the House. Could we get 100 people to show up for families with seriously ill or medically complex children? 🧡
I’ll be honest—it’s hard when we’re struggling to reach even 20 runners for something that means so much to our family.
Ronald McDonald House was our home for 80 nights. Until you’ve been far from home, scared about your child, and unsure what tomorrow holds, it can be hard to understand what that place gives a family.
A bed close to the hospital. A warm meal. Clean clothes. People who understand. The chance to focus on your child.
Here’s what 100 people could do:
100 donations of $35 = $3,500.
Our anonymous donor matches every dollar.
That becomes $7,000 for Ronald McDonald House.
Using Cincinnati’s published estimate, that’s enough to help provide approximately 50 nights of lodging, meals, and support for families caring for their children.
Fifty nights of being close.
Fifty nights with one less financial worry.
Fifty nights of having somewhere to land after a hard hospital day.
We know what those nights mean. We lived them.
