🚨 BREAKING FLOOD UPDATE: CEDAR HILL ABOVE FLOOD STAGE AS RIVERS SURGE ACROSS SAN JUAN COUNTY

Sunday, November 1, 2026 | Evening Update

River levels across San Juan County have risen dramatically throughout the day, with several gauges recording sharp increases as floodwaters continue moving through the region.

🔴 ANIMAS RIVER — CEDAR HILL: 11.04 feet at 4:00 PM, approximately 0.54 feet above its 10.5-foot flood stage.

🔴 ANIMAS RIVER — AZTEC: 13.73 feet at 5:15 PM. The river is approaching its previously reported October 29 peak of 14.52 feet. An official flood-stage threshold has not been confirmed for this gauge.

🔴 ANIMAS RIVER — FARMINGTON: 8.58 feet at 3:30 PM. Flood Warning remains in effect, with additional rises forecast.

🔴 SAN JUAN RIVER — SHIPROCK: 12.76 feet at 4:00 PM. The National Weather Service has forecast a crest near 16.2 feet early Tuesday.

🔴 SAN JUAN RIVER — BLOOMFIELD: 6.91 feet at 5:00 PM, a sharp increase from 4.82 feet earlier this afternoon.

🔴 SAN JUAN RIVER — FARMINGTON: 5.97 feet at 4:00 PM. Flood Advisory remains in effect.

🔴 SAN JUAN RIVER — ARCHULETA: 6.84 feet at 5:15 PM, following a rapid increase. The gauge’s previously reported 7-foot threshold warrants close monitoring.

⚠️ MULTIPLE FLOOD WARNINGS REMAIN IN EFFECT

The National Weather Service has forecast additional river rises and potential flooding into Monday and Tuesday. Flash flooding and dangerous road conditions remain serious concerns, even in locations where rivers have not reached official flood stage.

🚨 RESIDENTS: PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY.

With areas already affected by last week’s flooding, conditions can deteriorate rapidly. Residents near rivers, arroyos, low-water crossings, and previously flooded neighborhoods—including Wildhorse Valley and Lee Acres—should remain especially alert.

DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOODWATERS. Keep children away from rivers and drainage channels. Avoid unnecessary travel through affected areas.

Do not wait until water reaches your property to prepare. Have an evacuation plan, move valuables to higher ground when safe, and follow all official evacuation instructions immediately.

TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN!
