APBA OPC Racing

APBA OPC Racing Capable of speeds over 140mph, the Outboard Performance Craft has come a long way since its beginning From the beginner, to the master, OPC has racing for you.

OPC racing is certainly the most diverse in all of powerboat racing in APBA. Classes start at 14 years of age with 25 hp on 10 foot boats and move upwards to equipment that only the master drivers can manage with more than 350 hp in a single engine outboard powering a 17 foot boat. The racing style varies as well, from 3 lap clock start, to 4 heat championship programs, with a lot in between…somet

hing to suit everyone. Some events run time trial to establish a line up, then run heats to determine starting positioning for a final event that can be from 20 to 50 laps. This uses a LeMans type, dead engine start, from a dock or beach. OPC can run marathon events for 2, 4 or 6 hours. Including fuel stops and driver changes. OPC races can run on lakes and rivers, rough water and smooth water. Today’s most high tech OPC race boats can start from a dead engine start, go 0 to 100 mph in 6 seconds and turn 180 degrees with forces of up to 5 G’s. Today’s tunnel boats are the fastest turning vehicle in the world. The classes and type of racing varies around the country. We have great Local club racing along with high profile semi-professional Series racing. Different areas of the country have different types of racing. Listed below you can check your favorite area to see what races there.
