APBA Junior Class Racing

APBA Junior Class Racing APBA Junior Class racing is THE ultimate sport for aspiring racers! Junior Hydroplanes and Runabout classes are open to kids starting at age 9. Having Fun!

These small, lightweight boats are a great way for kids to safely experience the thrill of racing. Safety is the number one priority in the APBA Junior classes. What’s number two? These classes have been developed specifically to give young drivers the experience needed to prepare them for the larger and faster classes in the adult categories. Once a young racer hits 16, he or she can move on to o

ne of these adult categories. Nothing is more rewarding for a parent than watching their kid accomplish her or her goals in J-Class racing, and the lessons these kids learn along the way last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to Ron and Chad Hill of Hill Marine for delivering the first batch of APBA Junior Category four-stroke propellers for the APBA Junior National Championships in Constantine MI this past week.

The propellers were put through parity testing under the supervision of the APBA Junior Committee before being used in the 2026 Junior National Championship races. We're excited to report that the props performed within an incredible ±0.3 mph of one another—just +/- point three miles per hour! That level of consistency is a tremendous step forward in ensuring parity and fair competition on the four-stroke platform.

The same propeller set is now on its way to DePue for the Junior North American Championships, where it will continue to provide competitors with equal equipment and let driver skill shine.

The work doesn't stop there. Hill is already hard at work producing the next batches of propellers that will be distributed to the APBA regions, helping expand the program and make four-stroke racing more accessible across the country.

Thank you again to Ron, Chad, and everyone at Hill Marine for your partnership, craftsmanship, and commitment to the future of APBA Junior racing. This is an exciting milestone, and we're just getting started!
