82 years old — and still training for what life might throw at her. 💪
One of the things I love most about what we do at Alloy is that everyone can train together, but that doesn’t mean everyone has to do an exercise the exact same way.
For this client, we adjust and regress movements when needed so she can safely work on the same movement patterns and goals as the rest of the group.
And sometimes we add things you might not expect to see in a workout for an 82-year-old — like hopping.
Why?
Because as we age, strength is only part of the equation. We also want to maintain the ability to react quickly, absorb force, and “put on the brakes” if we trip or lose our balance.
We’re not training her to jump higher.
We’re training her body to know what to do when her foot hits the ground unexpectedly.
That means working on strength, balance, coordination, power and reaction — all with the appropriate level of challenge for her.
The goal isn’t just to be strong in the gym.
It’s to stay capable, confident and independent outside of it.
You don’t age out of strength training. You just get smarter about how you train. ❤️
