When we started Brave Enterprises in 2016, we couldn’t pay to get a boys group to work with us.
10 years, a pandemic, and new generation of kids later, we are seeing more interest in boys getting bravery training.
Along with that, we are finding incredible gains in the impact data we capture from pre- and post-surveys.
Here are our data-driven quick takes:
1. Boys are slower to reach the Fear Inflection Point (when kid fears become adult fears) than girls, hitting it closer to 13-14 years of age vs. 10-11.
2. When boys DO report adult fears (emotional fears), over 50% of those are fears of failure
• 56% for Delbarton School 7th and 8th grade boys, n=53
• 59% for Stevenson School freshmen boys, n=61
3. Emotional bravery is where boys need (and want) to grow.
4. Emotional bravery is where boys report witnessing bravery in their male peers.
Bring us in to work with all your kids. What we know is they value bravery and they think they need it in their lives.
