Travis Pointe welcomed famed winemaker Ehren Jordan to the cellar today!
Ehren Jordan is one of the most respected voices in modern California wine, known for helping redefine what cool-climate California Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah could be. He is the founder and winemaker of Failla Wines, a producer celebrated for elegant, site-driven wines from Sonoma Coast and Oregon vineyards.
What made Jordan especially influential was his ability to bridge two very different California wine worlds: the powerful, old-vine Zinfandels of Turley and the restrained, Burgundian-inspired wines of Failla. His work at Failla became a benchmark for Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, emphasizing freshness, lower alcohol, organic farming, and transparent vineyard character long before those ideas became mainstream in California wine culture.
In 2008, the San Francisco Chronicle named him “Winemaker of the Year,” recognizing both his technical skill and broad influence across California wine.
Today, Jordan continues to expand Failla’s work into Oregon’s Willamette Valley while remaining a major advocate for cool-climate viticulture and restrained, age-worthy California wines.
Look for his Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Pinot Noir coming to the list soon!
