Parents: Take 30 seconds and go look at your catcher’s chest protector.
Seriously.
Look at the shoulders.
Is the gear sitting ON her shoulders?
Or is it lifting off them & looking more like an oversized bulky life jacket that’s way too big?
Because if it’s lifting, creating gaps, floating above her body, or moving around when she moves…
It doesn’t fit.
And if it doesn’t fit, it isn’t protecting her the way it should.
As parents, we spend so much time worrying about the right team, the right coach, the right lessons, the right opportunities.
But one of the most important things you can do for your catcher is make sure the gear protecting her actually fits her body.
A properly fitted chest protector should feel like an extension of your catcher…not something hanging on her.
It should move with her.
Stay with her.
Protect her.
Fit isn’t just comfort.
IT’S SAFETY!!!
Go check her gear.
You might be surprised by what you find.
