Everybody wants a young horse until they need a horse they can actually trust.

Caddie is one of those golden oldies that's already read the book, seen the movie, and knows how the story ends. She's spent years taking care of riders, teaching lessons, packing kids around, and proving that experience matters.

Walk, trot, lope. Arena or trail. Caddie isn't looking for a performance career—she's looking for a family, a lesson program, a grandkid horse, or someone who appreciates a steady partner.

She's sweet, kind, and easy to get along with. The current owners bought her for the grandkids, but the grandkids never caught the horse bug.

Currently barefoot, on grass hay, and requiring no maintenance. A little conditioning and some extra groceries would likely have this old girl feeling her best.

The good ones get old. The great ones get priceless.

Tonka came as a package-deal horse after being a teenage girl's trail mount. She's a good example of a horse that rides better than she handles.

On the ground, Tonka can be pushy and would benefit from someone who is confident and consistent with boundaries. She stands tied well and is generally easy to manage, but she's not the horse that's going to quietly follow you around looking for affection. YET.

Under saddle, however, she's straightforward. She likes to move out, enjoys having a job, and is happiest when she's headed down the trail. Her gait is there but isn't highly refined, and she could benefit from additional miles and consistency.

Tonka isn't a perfect horse, but she's an honest one. If you're looking for an affordable trail mare with plenty of life ahead of her and don't mind putting a little work into the ground manners, she may be a great fit.

Meet Otis—built like a brick house and twice as steady.

This guy is *THICK*. The kind of horse that makes the scale blink twice and the saddle sit a little higher. He’s not here to be pretty, he’s here to get the job done and look good doing it.

Otis rides well and keeps things pretty uncomplicated under saddle. Point him where you want to go and he’s usually already halfway there mentally. He’s not dramatic, not fussy—just a solid gelding doing solid gelding things.

On the ground he’s generally easy to handle, but he does have one little “don’t rush me” moment. If you crank the cinch down like you’re late for a rodeo, he might remind you with a pull back. Nothing wild—just Otis requesting proper saddle etiquette like the gentleman he is.

Once you learn his one rule, he’s an easy guy to live with and ride. No nonsense, no surprises, just a big honest horse with some opinions and a whole lot of body.

A c**t start is kindergarten.

Nobody expects perfection. The lines are crooked, the alphabet song is a little questionable, and sometimes you're not entirely sure they understood the assignment. But you celebrate it anyway.

The goal isn't to create a finished product in 30 days. The goal is confidence. Curiosity. A willingness to learn.

When a c**t takes their first few rides, I don't care if every transition is perfect. I care that they're trying. I care that they leave each lesson a little braver than they started.

Just like kindergarteners, young horses need encouragement more than criticism. They need a teacher who notices the effort, rewards the try, and understands that learning is a process.

The fancy stuff can come later.

Right now, we're just learning our ABCs.

Pretty enough to stand out, tough enough to keep going all day.

Grace is the kind of mare that’s hard to walk past. She’s elegant, athletic, and has that naturally refined look that turns heads without even trying. Add in her kind personality and smooth way of going, and she’s the total package.

She’s been used mainly as a trail horse and has done intro endurance rides. She's a great candidate to get into the longer endurance gig! She loves it, handles the crowds great and rocks the vet check. This mare can COVER some ground. She’s forward moving without being silly, smooth to ride, and has the stamina to go all day long.

In the arena, Grace looks just as good. She rides Western or English, has a nice walk, trot, and lope, and carries herself beautifully. She has the athletic ability and movement to go a variety of directions depending on what her next person enjoys.

If you’re looking for a handy, broke gelding with real-life experience and a little ranch grit left in him, Baxter IS your guy. He spent last year being used primarily as a trail horse and then enjoyed the winter vacation package — which, unsurprisingly, came with a little spring rust.

Coming back into work, Baxter was hard to catch at first, but he’s already getting easier and settling back into a routine. On his first ride back this spring he got a little humpy when asked to lope, but once pushed through it he rode around without issue and has continued improving with every ride since. No funny business after that — just a horse remembering he has a job again.

Baxter has some ranch handle and wears a brand to prove he’s seen real work. He’s got the foundation there: moves off your leg, has some maneuverability, and would make a really fun ranch versatility prospect for someone wanting a practical horse without starting from scratch. He’s the type that benefits from consistency and regular riding, just like most seasoned geldings do.

Out on the trail, Baxter is confident and experienced. He’ll ride out solo or happily go with a group, and he’s been camping as well. He’s the kind that’s seen outside miles and isn’t shocked by life.

Baxter is not being advertised as a deadhead beginner horse fresh off the couch — he’s a capable gelding that’s getting legged back up and getting better every ride. For someone wanting a useful horse with experience, personality, and potential to keep going in multiple directions, he’s worth a look.
