Congratulations to Hawkeye member John Wiehe! Here's his cool story, in his own words ...

It all started in 1990 when I got my first buck with a bow . I had gone dry for 9 years prior to because I wanted an antler buck. Many does were taken before then.

I was hunting out of a camp with some older bow hunters, and one of them was named Jerry. That year I got my first buck with a bow that scored 120”. At dinner that night Jerry said, "What do you think about these p**s pots coming here and killing the nice bucks?"

Well fast forward and Jerry now is 96 years old. He gifted me his first trad bow - a 1965 Jack Howard Hunter. I told him I would hunt that bow until I harvest a deer with it.

Tonight (Thursday, October 22, 2026) it came full circle and I harvest a nice buck 🏹

Winter cometh. Hawkeye's grounds and buildings need to be prepped for winter. If you need service hours, this is your last opportunity to clock a few. Remember that as a Hawkeye member you need 10 service hours accumulated to remain in good standing.
