Volunteering is the backbone of sport, yet in many countries around Europe, it has been declining in recent years. If this is the reality in your country, federation, sport club or organisation, then this session may offer valuable ideas and practical solutions.

This online session will help you understand how to motivate and maintain volunteers by placing emphasis on the skills they gain through sport. Because skills gained through volunteering should be better recognised, valued and transferred beyond the sport sector.
You will hear insights from:
Aurélien Favre from the EOSE - European Observatoire of Sport and Employment who led the Erasmus+ V4V project on innovative toolkits for volunteer recruitment and retention
Laura Borrie from the Sheffield Hallam University on human and social capital in sport volunteering
Ivana Pranjić from the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln on transferable competences and employability
Why join?
Because volunteering does more than support sport. It helps people build valuable transferable skills that can strengthen employability, support career development and foster community engagement, especially when these skills are properly recognised.
A big thanks for setting up this event goes to the Steering Group of the Sport and Society Community of Practice Niki Koutrou, PhD, SFHEA; Elisabeth Strobach; Amélie Maréchal; Bence Garamvölgyi, PhD; Joanna Dochevska; Antonio Silva; Radu Radulescu; Andrej Pišl; Peter Busuttil; and Marta Lázaro
