DREAMS LIKE THIS ARE WORTH FIGHTING FOR β₯οΈ
There are victories that are measured by medals, and there are victories that are measured by sacrifice.
This is one of them.
When Muay Thai was included only as an exhibition sport and Kickboxing only as a demonstration sport, there was no certainty. No guarantee of support. No guarantee that our athletes would even have the opportunity to stand on that national stage.
Yet we went anyway.πβοΈ
Parents reached into their pockets despite their own struggles. Friends extended helping hands. Generous people believed in children who were carrying nothing but a dream and the courage to chase it. Coaches gave their time and hearts. Athletes endured months and years of training, not knowing if their sacrifices would ever be rewarded.
This journey was largely self-funded, but it was never walked alone.
That is why when our small team of only three athletes came home with 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal, and 1 Bronze Medal, it felt like more than a victory. It felt like a message.
A message that dreams from small communities matter.
A message that young athletes deserve to be seen.
A message that even when a sport is not yet fully recognized, the athletes who dedicate their lives to it are worthy of support.
To everyone who helped us, thank you. You did not simply fund a trip. You gave these young athletes a chance to represent our province, our people, and the sport they love. You became part of every round fought, every tear shed, every victory earned.
To Coach Thea Shivonne Tombali thank you for standing beside these athletes through every challenge. The medals may hang around the necks of the athletes, but they also carry the fingerprints of the coaches who sacrificed quietly behind the scenes.
These medals shine because many people carried the weight together.
And perhaps that is why I become emotional looking at them.
Because I know how close some of these dreams were to never happening.
We will continue to push for Muay Thai and Kickboxing to become regular sports. Not for ourselves, but for the next generation. So that one day, young athletes will no longer have to wonder if they can afford to chase their dreams.
Until then, we will keep showing up. We will keep believing. We will keep fighting.
Because every child deserves a chance.
And because dreams like these are worth fighting for...
Big thank you as well to Kru Dawn Noriel Zada Sir Isco Wangag Maam Roxane..mam Agot Malecdan and the rest of TEAM CAR KICKBOXING TEAM..for sharing their time and helping hands during the competition..
