WHAT a day to be on the maunga! 😮‍💨

Soft, deep off-piste this morning, with some seriously stacked chutes - then over to The North Face Frontier 4*, where the wind and low vis were no match for the athletes absolutely sending it - we almost couldn’t watch🫣

Some spicy winds kept us on our toes…but big lines, deep turns and plenty of action more than made up for it. What a day! 😋

Whether you’re riding, watching, or following along from home, this is your chance to see the terrain through an expert’s eyes before the first athlete drops.

*NOTE: Shot in the eye of last week’s storm, the venue has since been loaded with fresh snow, and those chutes are looking even more filled in. Bring on the action!

A few highlights from a great day back on the maunga!

Early morning conditions made for some seriously impressive riding in The North Face Australia & NZ 2*, and once the sun came out, there were plenty of fun turns to be found around the whole mountain 🏔️

Keep your eyes out for the 2* highlights dropping over the next few days - it’s one to watch! 👀

A few snaps from the team in the thick of it 🌨️

50cm of new snow up top from the latest front, and our deepest snowpack of the season. The ongoing storm brought a mix of heavy snow and rain overnight, creating challenging but beautiful conditions across the maunga.

While we were closed today, Patrol, Maintenance and Grooming were busy putting in a huge shift behind the scenes. A massive amount of work goes on when a storm like this rolls through, so a big thanks for their incredible mahi and tireless efforts.

Have you spotted our new family of Kea around the mountain? 😍

As we approach mid-season we’re still chipping away at our goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030. The real work is often the quieter stuff – the daily decisions, the systems we have in place and the commitment from our team to keep improving how we operate.

We’ve recently marked 1 year of partnership with our friends at the Southern Lakes Sanctuary. As part of this we’ve introduced new Ai traps and started to see a few more cheeky Kea (and their chicks!) on the mountain.

Change happens over time, not overnight and we’re still doing the mahi in the background.
