What a weekend in Christchurch at the 2026 Michael Godfrey! 🏁

I’ve never raced this track before, so it was a pretty cool experience. I raced 5 races over the weekend and my lap times got faster every race as my confidence grew.

To come away with 5th overall, I was stoked! 👊

A huge thank you to my Nana, my big brother, his partner and my nieces for coming out and supporting me. It was awesome having you there cheering me on.

Big thanks to Dad, as always, for being my coach, mechanic, motivator and biggest supporter. Thanks for all the hours you put in to get me and bike #77 to the track every weekend.

A special thanks to Tracey at Cluster MX Photography for the BP voucher in recognition of the travel. It was a really cool surprise and much appreciated!

And of course, a massive thank you to my sponsors. I hope I’m making you proud:

🏍️ Kawasaki NZ
🏍️ Motoworx Winton
🏍️ Civil Construction
🏍️ Queenstown Auto Refinishing
🏍️ Shotover Jet

I couldn’t do it without your support.

If anyone would like to jump on board and support Hunter Deegan (Meikle) #77 for the rest of the season, send our page a PM! 🤝🔥

🔥 ROUND 4 HUNTER UPDATE 🔥

Check out this HOLE SHOT!!! 🤯💨

First ride back since breaking his finger and once he dials it in… he’s ON 🚀 Few crashes today but the speed is definitely there when everything clicks 😅💪

Passing aggressive, some really good starts and most importantly — having fun!! 🙌🏁

As you can probably hear in the video… that’s one proud Dad on the sidelines 😂❤️

Big thanks to SDBR for another awesome day 👏 Massive effort from all the volunteers and everyone involved in making these events happen!

And huge thanks to our awesome sponsors — Team Green, Motoworx Winton, Civil Construction and Shotover Jet, Queenstown Auto Refinishing 💚

🔥 SDBR Round 3 – Hunter update 🔥

Came out firing with a 2nd in race one 💪
Backed it up with a 4th and 5th — solid as 👊🏽

BEST EVER RESULT in Junior A 😤📈
AND… 3RD OVERALL FOR THE DAY!! 🥉🔥

Said his finger was “a little sore”…
we told him to ride it off 🤦‍♂️😂
Turns out it was actually broken from rugby on Saturday 💀

One busted finger and still out there giving it heaps… unreal effort 😅

Massive thanks to our sponsors for backing our boy 🙌

Massive effort — proud as! 🏁

💚 Hunter vs The KX250: Becoming Friends 💚

First couple races he was just politely asking the bike to cooperate…
Bike said “nah” 😅

👉 Race 1 – 10th (still negotiating)
👉 Race 2 – 10th (terms & conditions being discussed)
👉 Race 3 – OHHHH OKAY THEN… 5th 💥

That last one he finally stopped arguing with it and just pinned it 🔥
Proper battles all day — elbows out, zero breathing, mum’s heart rate in the red zone 😆

Top 10 overall and figuring this 250 thing out one throttle twist at a time.

Huge thanks to Winton Motoworx and Shotover Jet for backing the chaos 👊

🏁 RACE DAY RECAP 🏁

Epic conditions, epic racing… and apparently I’ve decided one class just isn’t enough punishment for myself 😅

Second time double classing and I’m still walking 💪🏼

🔥 Women’s: 2-2-1
Last race I grabbed the holeshot and led from start to finish 🚀 Felt calm on the outside… absolutely not calm on the inside 😆 Annie was glued to me an gaining the whole moto — no room for mistakes!

And the finish line video? Even better.
You can clearly hear Mum screaming like I’d just won a world title 😂💀 Honestly louder than my bike. 10/10 pit crew energy.

💥 Senior B’s: 8-8-7
Then I lined up with the Senior B’s because apparently I enjoy being humbled. Character building stuff. Questioned my fitness. Questioned my sanity. Would do it again.

Massive thanks to Southern Dirt Bike Riders for an awesome event 👏🏼 Such a shame the weather canned day two — but that’s NZ racing!

Huge love to my sponsors for backing the chaos ❤️

What an unforgettable Burt Munro experience 2026 🏁🔥
So incredibly proud of these two.

UP 250cc:
• Hunter – 5th equal NZ
• Paige – 8th NZ

1 Mile Dash:
• Hunter – 14th
• Paige – 15th

A massive achievement for Hunter, completing his first ever 50-mile race and finishing a solid 15th 💪👏
Absolutely stoked with his efforts , pretty sure he was the first 250cc — a well-deserved trip to McDonald’s to celebrate 🍔😄

Paige was unfortunately taken out in the first 1-mile dash, through no fault of her own. She did start the 50-mile, but you could tell she just wasn’t right. With her health coming first, we made the tough call to pull her out on lap 5. She was gutted and wanted to keep going but dad said no— but that’s racing.

Tough lessons, huge heart, and plenty of motivation moving forward.
Bring on next year 💥🏍️

Big thanks to all that came to support the kids and help out!

Round 2 of the XC Nationals done and dusted 💥 14 girls entered!!

Practice was unreal — bike felt mint and confidence was high… Awsome Start…. Then heading into lap 2, just after getting up the step hill, my handlebars chose VIOLENCE. Mounts snapped. Bars exited the chat. Race plans instantly in shambles.

Massive shoutout to Ben and Tim who full-sprinted over and up the hill to rescue me (and what little dignity I had left) — absolute legends 👊

Somehow made it back to the pits where peak Kiwi engineering was deployed — cable ties and duct tape. Huge thanks to Caleb Holmes and the random pit heroes who jumped in to help — forever grateful 🙌

Bars were technically attached, so I went back out anyway and still matched my last lap time to my first.

Mum told me to “just ride and finish”… Which is cute advice from someone who then fell into a creek while trying to come check I was ok because it “looked like grass” 💀🌱💦

First time racing without Dad with me… really felt that one ❤️

Huge thanks Palmerston North and Rewa — what an experience!! Massive thanks to my sponsors, Mum and Dad and camp dad Tim, forever greatful❤️

Didn’t go to plan, but that’s cross country racing. Already fizzed for Rounds 3 & 4 in Nelson in March 👊

Now heading home to hopefully get these handlebars sorted before the Burt Munro 50 Mile & NZ Beach Race Champs on Friday… because clearly chaos is a lifestyle choice 😂🏁

Awesome day at the Southern dirt bike riders X country today Hunter got the hole shot then had a crash a couple of corners later and was last he fought back and Finished 6th on a very slippery track. He rode awesome and was only 30 seconds off 4th and 5th and would have got them with one more lap as was catching them. Very proud of how he rode. Thanks to his sponsors.
