Recap of our weekend at Ruapuna:
A really up and down weekend, many positives to take away from it as a whole. We really enjoy this weekend every year, Ruapuna certainly know how to host!
Friday night we qualified 20th after hot laps. Unfortunately the car wasn’t running how it typically would. When we returned to the pits we managed to find that our ECU cable had come lose, an easy fix and we were back to normal. Our second heat didn’t account for anything, meaning we couldn’t gain any positions for our grid in the feature. Starting the feature on Grid 20, I had a lot of work to do to charge my way to the front. Finishing with a battle with Alec right to the end where he passed me, finishing 5th. Won the Hard Charger Award for the night 🙌🏻
Night two, started off strong with a heat win! Started Grid 4, finished 1st 🏁 With so many restarts through this heat it was awesome to be able to hold my position through the race from the second lap. Second race, started on Grid 9. Coming down the back straight unfortunately I came into contact with another car and my shock blew off. Resulting in a DNF.
Gold cup feature, started Grid 11. Start of the race, got swarmed a wee bit with not much wriggle room for the first few laps. Found my rhythm and starting passing through the field as the race went on. Unfortunately whilst trying my way to navigate through the field, decided to stick to the outside line, drove over a rear wheel. Ending up going for a ride up the wall and had a tip over.
Thank you to everyone for checking in, I was able to jump out of the car straight afterwards.
A massive thank you to Mum & Dad for driving the car down and home for me. I’ve been lucky enough to have the luxury of flying down and home. Dad’s been busy all weekend repairing, cleaning and doing maintenance on the car, couldn’t get the car performing how it does without your hard work. Mum, thank you for all of the organising for this trip, makes my job so much easier. Thank you to Kane and Georgia for helping the crew and driving the quad for the weekend. Wendy & Will, thank you for your continuous support. Having my sponsors come down south to support me is always special!
