Half a second short of the Grand Slam — but what a way to close out the season.

We brought the 1NZ home in 2nd place at the South Island Champs last weekend at Powderworx Central Motor Speedway, wrapping up an unreal championship campaign.

After three strong heat races (5th, 2nd, and 3rd), we lined up on the front row for the feature alongside the 3NZ. Mark got the jump and drove a faultless race to take the win. The feature was shortened to 20 laps by agreement, and while those extra 10 laps would’ve been nice in hindsight, it made for an intense and exciting finish.

Huge congratulations to Mark and Richie for completing the podium — two absolute legends of the sport. And all the best to 58c on retirement 🫡

We finished the night in the Daryl Ainsley Memorial, starting from the rear and working our way through to finish 3rd. Congrats to Terry and Greig on taking the top spots.

A massive thank you to Dad (Maurice), Dylon, Colin, Debbie, Jim, and Shaun for making the trip south and for all the hard work you put in every week — couldn’t do it without you.

And of course, thank you to our team partners for your continued support throughout the season. We appreciate everything you do to keep us on track.

For now, there are no immediate plans for the next meeting this season — we’ll keep you posted on our plans.

As much as we love the weekends away racing, nothing beats coming home to these two!
