After a painfully long wait, we finally returned home to Paradise Valley Speedway with my new Stockcar to get my first meeting underway. The journey up until this point did not come without it set-backs but it’s never felt so good to be back. Although the plan was to ease into the new car through a couple club nights, I was not going to pass up the opportunity to race at the second night of the World 240s, which included a 25 car stockcar challenge.
The day started of perfectly as the car was successfully green-sheeted so onto the first race I went, filled with excitement but also nerves. The only driving I had done up to this point was getting it on and off the trailer so I had no clue what to expect when I rolled out on to track for heat 1. However all the work paid off as I managed to finish p10 after starting p22. Now with nerves settled I managed to finish p14 from p24 in heat 2, and p9 from p25 in heat 3, ending 8th overall on points.
As first nights go, I couldn’t have asked it to be any better, so now onto getting the body stripped of paint and sanded to get the car properly dressed. Massive thanks to Dad, Mum, Steven at Protrade Supplies, Steve Gray at stevosspeedshop and Terry O’Conner at Reconz Engines for all their hard work, generosity and encouragement.
