ANYONE GOT ANY SPARE TROUT PLEASE?

Didymo Dave needs your support. There are a number of people with serious health issues and I'm looking for good quality Taupo trout to give to Doctors, Nurses etc as a thank you for what they do in looking after these people, me included. Now if you are keeping trout n feeding your family/whanau or friends or putting them in the freezers at the Marae etc, please carry on doing that.

But if you are catching n releasing because you don't like eating trout or you don't know what to do with them all we would really appreciate your help. Dave’s number is 0272409603 & we can pick them up, get them smoked at Farmers Quality Meats with "RAY THE BUTCHER" and from there away to the Drs etc.

So please, next time you go to release a good conditioned fish, please think of us & give Dave a call. Cheers!

What an absolute monster of a rainbow! 🎣👏🏻 That’s definitely a fish to remember and one that’s going to be seriously hard to beat on our leaders’ board! 🏆
What an amazing catch! 🔥🐟

Can you guess the weight of the big one?

"Lake Taupō provides perhaps the clearest case study of what this damage can cost. From the 1990s, nitrogen leaching from farms and septic tanks threatened to tip the lake’s famously clear water into decline, so the government stepped in with a catchment-wide nitrogen management plan.

The price tag was $81 million to keep just 170 tonnes of nitrogen a year out of the lake. Spread over the 50 years the plan is expected to operate, that works out to roughly $9500 per tonne each year, more than 10 times the approximately $888 per tonne it costs to buy nitrogen fertiliser in the first place."

A great article by one of our top Lake Scientists - Simon Stewart

Comment: Cleaning up nitrogen pollution costs 10 times more than buying the fertiliser in the first place, freshwater ecologist Dr Simon Stewart argues.

NEW ZEALAND JUNIOR ANGLER OF THE YEAR - Olliver Pask (TFC member)

A massive congratulations to Olliver Pask, who has officially been named the 2025/26 New Zealand Sport Fishing Council Junior Angler of the Year!

This prestigious award recognises Olliver’s outstanding performances and achievements throughout the fishing season, and what a season it has been!

Some of the incredible achievements that contributed to Olliver taking out the title include:

- Landing a Yellowfin Tuna World Record
- Finishing 4th in the NZ Youth Nationals
- Several pending New Zealand records
- Standout catches on light tackle
- Winning multiple categories at the Taupō Fishing Club

But Olliver’s contribution to fishing goes well beyond what he has achieved on the water. He has also given back to the sport through his involvement on several New Zealand Sport Fishing Council committees, showing his commitment to the future of the sport.

To achieve all of this in his final season as a junior angler is an incredible way to finish this chapter.

An outstanding season, an outstanding achievement, and a very well-deserved national title.

Congratulations Olliver, 2025/26 New Zealand Sport Fishing Council Junior Angler of the Year!

We can’t wait to see what comes next!
