We're back at home this weekend with a full afternoon of women's football as both our reserves and first team take the field at fortress bledisloe in a double header.

The curtain raiser sees our reserves take on Ellerslie AFC Originals in what promises to be a competitive contest. Both sides have shown plenty throughout the season and with valuable points on the line this shapes up as important fixture for the girls as they continue through their season.

Our first team face one of their toughest tests of the season as they welcome Waiheke United Quickcats to Bledisloe. Waiheke currently sit top of the table, albeit having played an extra game. The girls are looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to measure themselves against one of the league's frontrunners.

Two quality matchups, home turf and plenty to play for. The support from our club and the community has been outstanding all season and does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. We would love to see plenty of support and familiar faces down at Bledisloe this weekend for both games. Fill the balcony, have a drink, get some food and watch some quality women's football.

Back to league competition for our Franklin Law Men's Firsts and Reserves and while they both have the same goal, they come off very different forms.
The First team will be looking to stall a poor run of form, coming off a draw and two losses, and the Reserves have 4 wins from their last 5 matches, so will be looking to consolidate their position on the table. Both teams have the potential to climb to second if results go their way.
Both teams are away, so show them your support here, unless you can hit the road to fill the sidelines!

We return to league fixtures this week, and our youth teams return to playing in their final grading round.
Our Franklin Law Men's First team are hoping to bounce back after a couple of losses, and will do so on the road, against the team that leapfrogged them on the table. Our Women's First team face a Waiheke team who sit above them on the table, but have played one extra match. They promise to be a tough opposition, also being unbeaten.
Our Reserves teams will both be looking for wins against teams who sit below them on the table. Our social men's teams face teams from across South Auckland, with the exception of the Odd Sox, who host Oratia.
Our 17th grade teams have one more round of grading to go after the long weekend, with the exception of the Reds, who have a bye. Panthers travel to Eastern Suburbs, Force are off to Waikaraka Park, and Gunners host South Auckland Rangers.

A weekend light in games, and light in goals, means not a lot of movement to report on our golden boot table. Cup football is notoriously tight, so not a lot of goals are usually scored. Sam managed a brace for the Iron Chins, whereas Ian and Danny both managed a brace for OMY. Only Danny managed to trouble the scorers for the top ten, though, as he climbed a few places into 3rd.
There were no clean sheets this week from the teams that played, so no action there either.
Back to a full house of fixtures next week, so here's hoping for some more movement on the table, can Wooly claw Wai back in, or will she put away another hat trick and leave him in her dust?

With two of our teams getting a free ride through this round, there were 5 teams playing in cup competition this weekend. We ended up slightly on the positive side of the ledger, with three teams winning, and two losing, meaning we still have 5 teams remaining in cup competition for the next round.
Franklin Law Reserves led the way, bringing home their entry into the next round of the cup from Albany with a 3-2 victory. OMY are also in the hat for the next round of their cup, being the only home team to secure victory, with a comfortable win vs a Papatoetoe United Sharks team from the division above.
Iron Chins are into the next round of the plate, after their short road trip to Papakura, reversing their league result vs AA.
Unfortunately Barbarians and Franklin Law Men's Firsts are no longer in knockout competition after being too good a hosts for their opposition, the latter gifting their opposition a penalty in the first and a second half goal in a 2-0 loss to the Northland Div 1 Bream Bay United.
We would like to give a huge thanks to our major partners:

How to take a free kick.
You may have seen a rundown if Isabelle's free kick for the Panthers in our Golden Boot post. In their match vs Western Springs last weekend, she took the most of the opportunity to take a free kick from outside the box, and ran the length of the pitch from her own goal box to take the kick. She lined it up and saw an opportunity around the wall, and almost took the net off with the ferocity with which she hit the ball.
We didn't manage to capture it on video, but thankfully a fantastic supporter saw the opportunity, and snapped pictures of the shot (from some distance).
Massive thanks to the member of our for capturing this amazing shot, and well done Isabelle!

Cup week brings a tough fixture for both our Franklin Law Men's Firsts and Reserves teams. The First team face a Northland Div 1 team in Bream Bay United, who have a 2 hour drive to get to Pukekohe, and unfortunately for them, hope to be terrible hosts, on the pitch, at least, sending them home having been knocked out of the cup.
The Reserves have their own long trip, as they head to Albany to face a team sitting mid table in a comparable division from the North Shore.
Wish both teams the best of luck, and fill the balcony to cheer our Franklin Law Men's First team on to the next round.

We return to cup football this long weekend, and the youth teams get a week off, so we're a few fixtures light, but there's still plenty of entertainment out there for you to sink your teeth into.
Round 2 of knockout football is truly knockout, with losing teams in round 1 then getting the opportunity in the Plate. Our Women's First Team get the weekend off after their valiant loss in the Kate Sheppard Cup, our Women's Reserves and Odd Sox get a bye in this round, so it's a man's world this weekend.
The marquis game is Franklin Law Men's First Team hosting Bream Bay's suspiciously named Safeclub, from the Northland Div 1 competition. Reserves have a long trip themselves, to Albany. OMY and Iron Chins face very familiar teams in Papatoetoe Sharks and Papakura City AA, and Barbarians host Eastern Suburbs.
Head along to Bledisloe Park to fill the balcony and watch the excitement of knockout football!
Go well, boys, see you all in the next round!
