This is a great step forward for New Zealand Boxing congratulations 👏👏

On Friday night, the Boxing NZ Athlete's Commission held their first zoom meeting.

Members are:
Troy Garton, Wendell Stanley, Edward Richards, Onyx Lye and Celine Lee-Lo.

President Josh Wharehinga popped in to say hi and thanked the athletes for putting their hand up for this really important role.

A huge acknowledgement to the Athlete Leaders Network for the support to Troy Garton, who has been championing this for a long time. Thank you for the hard mahi Troy!

We're really looking forward to embedded authentic and independent athlete voice into the fabric of Boxing NZ.

2026 North Island Golden Gloves done and dusted. We had a team of 3 boxers at this year's Golden Gloves, Billy Butlin, Xavier McGinniss, and Niwa Barlow. Bringing home a bronze and 2 gold medals with Niwa going back to back, winning the 2025 and 2026 super heavyweight 90+kg Golden Gloves titles.
Big shout out to the CNI boxing association for putting on another successful event with over 300 boxers entered to compete over 3 days of absolutely brilliant boxing. From the cadets through to elite, there has been some fantastic boxing on display.
Thank you to our entire Marton Boxing family and the wider Rangitikei community for your past, present, and continued support, we couldn't do it without you all 🙏

Hey team, we are closed tonight and Monday night due to our boxing team competing at the 2026 North Island Golden Gloves in Tauranga this weekend.

Iron sharpening iron at Marton Boxing tonight. A great night of sparring with River City Boxing Club Whanganui and Mana Toa coming through for rounds. Great energy, and getting more and more clubs in our region working together. There's a lot of talent in the Manawatu/Whanganui region and working together we can only improve 🥊🥊

Saturday was day two of back to back tournaments at Auckland Amateur Boxing Assoc - ABA
Billy brought home a hard fought split decision, both boys boxed well and a tough bout like this will serve them well heading into Golden Gloves in a couple weeks.

Awesome event last night at the Auckland Amateur Boxing Assoc - ABA , Peach Boxing put on an outstanding show. Young Xavier and Zen put in a great effort, Zen took the decision this time but both boys showed that the future of boxing is strong. On to the next 🥊🥊

Event five done for 2026. Liam had his second bout in two weeks and he showed huge improvement in such a short turnaround. It was a good ding d**g and both boys left it all in the ring. The ABA was as always a fantastic venue, big thankyou to Albie and the Boxing Alley team for putting on a great event, and thankyou to Underground Boxing for a thrilling bout 🥊🥊
We go again in two weeks time, we have five boxers nominated for Palmy on May 2nd.

Last club tournament for the year done and dusted. Thank you to Coach Craig and the Hastings Giants team for putting on another fantastic event.Two out of three aren't bad. We are proud of our boys' efforts today. Billy lost a decision in a hard fought, extremely competitive bout. Xavier won a decision with some lovely boxing skills on display against a bigger opponent. Niwa put on a powerful display with a first round stoppage. This caps off a very busy year for Marton Boxing, competing in over 25 tournaments all across New Zealand and abroad.
One last event for the year is the Boxing NZ trials. Unfortunately, we had to pull Onyx from the trials due to the ongoing rehab on the shoulder he injured at the BNZ nationals. We have Niwa competing for his spot on the team to hopefully make it to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games next year. A huge thankyou to our entire Marton Boxing family and the wider Rangitikei community for your ongoing support and encouragement of our club 🥊🥊
