It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Bevan “BC” Campbell on 29 August 2026, a true HSOB stalwart whose connection with our club spanned more than 60 years.

BC first pulled on the HSOB jersey in 1965, progressing through the grades to become a Senior player and captain. He was an integral part of our victorious 1970 and 1972 teams, and later captained the Senior side from 1974–1976, leading HSOB into two Lee Brothers Shield Finals.

His contribution went well beyond the field. BC served on the club committee, was club secretary for many years, and was part of the hardworking crew who quite literally helped build our clubrooms, often putting in a Saturday morning on the tools before pulling on his boots that afternoon.

It was very special to have BC back at the club in July, sharing a beer and catching up with old teammates. We are incredibly grateful there was an opportunity for stories, laughs and memories to be shared once more. A simple moment at the time, but one we will now treasure.

More than 60 years after BC first became part of HSOB, the legacy he leaves with our club is a lasting one. His name, his contribution and his place in our history will not be forgotten. We are richer as a club because of those who came before us, gave so much, and helped shape the HSOB we are proud to be part of today.

Our deepest aroha goes to Nong, Coll, Nancy, his five much-loved grandchildren and the wider Campbell whānau as they farewell their much-loved husband, Dad and Pop.

Moe mai rā, BC. Your legacy will always be part of the HSOB story.

BC’s service will be held at 11.00am on Wednesday 2 September 2026 at Bushmere Arms, Waerengaahika, Gisborne.

⚽️ Big congratulations to our HSOB Black Hearts team for taking out Division 2 of the local men’s grade.

This team was started with the intention of building up our youth ranks and set a solid foundation for the future. A big thank you and well done to the coaching squad and older heads who joined the ranks to provide mentorship along the way! 💪

💙 AUTOTECH HSOG — FINALISTS! 💙

What a season it has been for our Autotech girls! They’ve grown together, battled hard and fun along the way

This morning they took on Waima Netball Club in the 2nd Grade Final. While the result didn’t go our way, we couldn’t be prouder of this group. They left everything out on the court and showed the heart, determination and team spirit that has carried them all season. 💙🤍

A huge congratulations to Waima on the win, and a massive well done to our Autotech girls on an incredible season! 👏🏼

You should be so proud of yourselves, girls. What an achievement to make the final — and what a special group you’ve become along the way. 🥹💙

💙 SEMI FINAL RESULTS | WHAT A DAY! 💙

And just like that, our HSOG semi finals are done! What a day of incredible netball, tough battles and girls who left absolutely everything out on court. 💙🤍

💙 EARTHWORK SOLUTIONS — 29–34

It wasn’t quite our day on the scoreboard, but what a way to finish! Earthwork Solutions had a rocky start and found themselves having to chase the game, but they dug deep and finished with an absolute bang, taking out the final quarter 13–7. 🔥

They never stopped fighting, never dropped their heads and showed exactly what this team is made of. After a rollercoaster season of highs, lows, injuries, wins and losses, making it to a semi final and finishing the game with that kind of fight is something to be incredibly proud of. 💙

💙 IMS — 30–34

What a game! IMS were in it the whole way, with the scoreboard staying incredibly tight from start to finish. There was barely anything between the two teams, and our girls battled for every ball, every turnover and every opportunity.

It was a truly valiant effort from a team who stepped up into Prem Reserve this season after winning A Grade last year. They have worked so hard week after week, and to finish their season in such a close semi final is an achievement they should be hugely proud of. 💙🤍

💙 AUTOTECH — 48–25

AND THEN THERE WAS AUTOTECH! 🔥🔥🔥

Our Auto Tech girls put on an absolute performance, coming away with a convincing 48–25 victory to secure their spot in NEXT WEEK’S FINAL! 🎉

After welcoming plenty of new faces into the team this season, they’ve gelled beautifully and finished top of the table — and now they’ve taken that form into the semi finals when it mattered most.

One more game. One more week. One more chance to BACK BLUE! 💙

To all three teams — we couldn’t be prouder. You represented HSOG with heart, determination and plenty of fight, and we are so proud of the way you’ve battled throughout the season.

At the start of the season, our Autotech HSOG team welcomed a number of new faces. It didn't take long for this group to gel, building strong connections on and off the court and playing some outstanding netball along the way.

Their hard work, determination and teamwork have paid off, finishing top of the table heading into this weekend's semi-final.
