“Kia Ora, my name is Mihiterina. I’m a proud Tairāwhiti girl who has recently moved home to complete her doctorate after spending a number of years in the big smoke. I’ve been a member at F45 Gizzy since February, and joined just in time for this 8 week challenge.
Growing up, I was lucky to attend a school where fitness and training were part of our curriculum. From age 12, movement has always been a big part of my life. From high intensity training as a teenager, playing netball, kapa haka, health and well-being is really important to me. I love classes that push me physically and mentally. This is why Saturday classes are my favourites, longer sessions mean an extra push!
I have to attribute a large part of this to my environment. I’m lucky enough to live with my fitness idol (my māmā lol) who leads by example everyday when it comes to training, nutrition, recovery and discipline (shot shelleynikora). The trainers at F45 Gizzy have also been incredible from day one, pushing me, and believing in me, especially Lex (big shout out!). Honestly, being surrounded by gym members who show up, work hard, and want to grow…it creates a space that’s hard not to thrive in.
Anxiety is really, and sometimes just walking through the front door can feel like the hardest part. But, if you can do that, you’ve already won. Once you’re in, the trainers, the energy, and the people around you will help carry the rest. It is such a supportive and uplifting space.
Best tip: You are worthy of health. You are worthy of well-being. And you are worthy of being surrounded by good people who want to see you succeed. Back yourself! Prioritising your health is one of the greatest investments you can make!!!
So inspiring Mihi, watch this space….our girl is getting strong!!!!
