A key component on a cycling adventure is of course the bike itself! 🚲 Bike It Now! hire bikes are the best bikes available on Central Otago Cycle trails.

Our goal is to make the ride as comfortable and enjoyable for you, so our team go through a thorough bike briefing and bike fitting before you set off on the trail.

For those riding e-bikes, we go through the operation of the e-bike so even if you have never ridden one before, you can be confident and comfortable.

Even small adjustments such as seat height, can significantly improve comfort over longer distances. We take the time to ensure your bike is fitted correctly and explain how to make minor adjustments if needed along the way.

Our Cromwell store manager, Andy, decided to make the most of the quiet season! He grabbed our brand new 2027 Scott Spark demo bike and hit the trails to see what this machine is really made of.

The verdict? When you combine Scott's integrated suspension tech with these stunning Central Otago trails, the result is pure speed. As Andy put it: "Fast is Fun!"

Our Otago Central Rail Trail One Day Wonder is for those short on time, but big on adventure! 🚲

Departing year-round, this One Day Wonder self-guided tour lets you cycle through some of the key highlights of the .

Explore the Poolburn Gorge Section as it cuts through the Raggedy Range that separates the Manuherikia and Ida Valleys. Gorgeous every day of the year!

Highlights of this section of the trail include the 37m high Poolburn Viaduct, two tunnels, the trails longest bridge and Central Otago stunning landscapes.

Minimum of two pax required and must be prebooked at least 24 hours in advance.

FAQ: Can you ride the Otago Central Rail Trail in Winter? ❄🚲

The Otago Central Rail Trail is open 365 days of the year. We operate year-round, however it is important to note that Winter is the ‘off season’, and many providers along the trail close for the winter months as it is much quieter.

While a hoar frost like this doesn't happen every winter, it will still be very cold, crisp and icy! If you are keen to ride this Winter, be sure to get in touch with us for some top tips to make your ride enjoyable.
