Clyde Bowling Club Our bowling club in beautiful Clyde, Central Otago is open to all age groups and experience to enjoy lawn bowls all year round.

Clyde Bowling Club, established in 1913, is located in the picturesque township of Clyde in Central Otago. Clyde is a warm and friendly club with a combined membership of 64 outdoor members and a very popular indoor programme during winter with approximately 120 people taking part. The Club has two natural outdoor greens and a four rink indoor stadium for winter bowls. The outdoor programme caters

for the needs of bowlers of all abilities with mid-week roll-ups through to championship events in the weekends. A Social Bowls programme runs throughout the Christmas / New Year period for holidaymakers. The indoor winter programme runs from the beginning of May to the end of August offering bowls on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. The triples competition is played on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings over a 10 week period. Championship events and weekend tournaments are held regularly throughout the winter indoor bowls season. Visitors to Clyde are most welcome to come along either to play bowls or for a social chat at the clubhouse.

Lynn McArthur receives Life Membership

At our recent AGM in June, Lynn was awarded life membership recognising her years of outstanding service to our club and its members.

Life Membership is one of the highest honours a club can bestow. It recognises not only long service, but outstanding service — the kind of contribution that shapes the future of a club and helps it thrive year after year. Lynn has done exactly that.

Lynn has served in many roles:

• as our current Club Secretary for 16 years,
• as Winter Bowls Club Captain for 13 years
• as Tournament Secretary from 2021 to 2023
• Women’s Club Captain / Selector for nine years
• Also securing major funding for the club (this is ongoing!)

There are countless other unsung jobs that Lynn quietly takes care of — things that simply get done because she sees they need doing. Over the years, she has become the backbone of our club. She is the person members turn to for information, help, and guidance.

Despite the Law changes afoot re the selling of alcohol over Easter, CBC will be open Thurs 3rd April 5-7pm, and closed on Friday 4th.
