The Botany Swarm is a team in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League. It is based in Auckland, New Zealand and was founded in 2005 as the South Auckland Swarm. Their name was changed prior to the 2007 season due to it being similar to some of the other teams and to better reflect the area in Auckland where their home rink located. Botany Swarm are the 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 NZIHL champions.

NATHAN HUFNAGEL -

Nate consistently brings intensity, reliability and leadership every time he steps on the ice. As a defenceman, Nate does the hard work that doesn’t always show up on the scoresheet-shutting down opposition attacks, setting up plays and giving the team confidence from the back end. His commitment, physicality and willingness to put the team first make him one of the most valuable players in the Swarm locker room this season

Tough weekend on the ice for our boys.

We started strong with an early first-period goal from Botany Swarm #21 Dima Koptev, but the Dunedin Thunder took the win 3-8.

We shake it off and reset for next weekend.
