Cherry International Foundation

A unique way of using non-formal education within European subsidised projects: the Cherry way. Our methods are non formal learning and learning by doing.

After many years participating and being involved in international events through other organizations, we decided to create our own Foundation. Collaborating with other organizations is always helpful for the process of learning and for gaining experience, but it also means that we are limited somehow. The name Cherry derives from the word cherish, which means "care and hold on something dear". Th

at is exactly how we feel about every project (or event) we organize: protect/hold/care about it! We create a perfect mix between content and service delivery to our participants and partners. It means that people learn spontaneously by participating in activities, being faced with particular situations/issues for which they need to find a solution, as individuals or as a group. Our aim is to implement international events throughout Europe and when possible all over the world, involving youngsters coming from deprived backgrounds, mainly those from rural areas. Our vision is to give people the chance to discover their potential in order to create a better world. Our mission is to keep organizing youth exchanges, trainings and other projects related to European programs.

When Siri walks away during an exercise, it's often not because he is uninterested—it's because our communication isn't clear yet.

People assume that it is simple to tell an animal to do something. With Siri, the excuse they find is that "he is a cat, that is the reason he doesn´t do what he is being asked", they say.

Cat, dog, horse, chicken, person.... if what you are asking from another is not something that you believe, or feel (suppose you want someone to connect with you, or have empathy for you, but you are not making this connection possible), the other most probably will not correspond either.

Animals show it immediately, providing a confronting, yes, but also honest feedback.

Last Thursday, our volunteers hosted their first workshop with 🤩

After 10+ years, 20+ youth exchanges, and 600+ participants, our Impact Measurement Report is finally out. And it’s more than just data - it’s voices, experiences, lessons learned, and lives changed along the way.

This report was created together with our past participants, whose testimonials and reflections helped us truly understand the impact our exchanges have made. A huge thank you to everyone who shared their story, and to our team for making this impact possible. 💙

✨ Looking back at Cherry projects in 2025 🍒✨

As 2026 begins, we’re taking a moment to look back at everything we created together last year. 2025 was a joyful mix of planning, experimenting, and learning, and we’re proud of what came out of it. In total, we brought five projects to life: one training, two youth exchanges, and two preparatory visits.

While we’re already shaping the projects of this new year, it feels just as important to pause and truly take in what we’ve built. In this post, we’re sharing testimonials from participants who joined our training and youth exchanges, offering a glimpse into the experiences, learning, and impact that unfolded throughout the year.

And the reflection doesn’t stop here. In Cherry we have been conducting a secret research over the past years. What is it about? More will be revealed soon, so stay tuned. 🤔⭐️

Here is a little recap from our last 2 workshops in Emmen! We had the chance to work with incredible women with different backgrounds and unique stories. ✨
The main goal was to make jewellery for themselves and/or for their loved ones while having the opportunity to meet new people and create some memories!! 🤩💗

Last Thursday, the Cherries organised a special kids workshop combining the magic of Halloween 🎃👻with the wonder of the animal world 🐇 Through interactive activities and games, the kids learned while having a good time and shared their creativity in a fun and supportive environment 😄
