SO De Bodde in Tilburg now has a Purple-Roof that can temporarily store 70,000 litres of rainwater, that is roughly 350 full bathtubs!

The blue-green roof releases the water in a controlled way, so the building is better prepared for extreme rainfall and the sewer system is relieved at peak moments.

Because the storage sits on the roof, the space around the school stays available for play and greenery. Sometimes the solution is right above your head.

In the Utrecht district of Cartesius, residential building Samara has been greened on all four sides with the SemperGreenwall Outdoor! Each façade has its own plant mix, tailored to sun, shade and wind. Because the system is pre-grown, the building was green from the day it was completed.

The result is a building where greenery isn’t an afterthought, but part of the design. That only works when the architect, developer, contractor and green specialists sit down together early on.

We’re pleased to announce that we have received our official Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the SemperGreenwall green façade system.

Green façades are valued for climate adaptation, biodiversity and a healthier living environment. But architects, developers and consultants also reliable data to make sustainable design choices and to meet sustainability requirements.

The EPD gives an independently verified overview of the system’s environmental impact across its entire life cycle, from raw materials and production to installation, use and maintenance, and end of life.

Het kabinet wil de btw op groen verhogen van 9% naar 21%. Dat is opmerkelijk in een tijd waarin we juist moeten investeren in klimaatadaptatie, biodiversiteit en een gezondere leefomgeving. Al meer dan 30 jaar zien we bij Sempergreen wat groen doet voor gebouwen, steden en mensen.

Voor De Telegraaf ging onze collega Robbert van de Water in op een opvallende paradox: Nederland wil meer groen, maar dreigt het tegelijkertijd fors duurder te maken.

When heavy rainfall hits, sewers can’t always handle all that water. A blue-green roof catches the rain right where it falls and releases the excess slowly, over time.

That takes pressure off the sewer system, and the water stays useful for plants and biodiversity.

Our partner Over Easy Solar has published a world-first: an EPD for its xM-3 that covers both the PV panels and the mounting structure! As far as they’ve been able to establish, it’s the first for a flat-roof solar product to do so.

The EPD reports 51.5 kg CO₂e/m² for A1-A3 (materials and manufacturing). It’s declared per m² of installed system rather than per kWp, which makes it easier to use early in a project. It is independently verified and published by EPD-Global.

Combined with our green roofs, it gives you one roof for energy, biodiversity and water retention.
