We often assume that greater responsibility naturally comes with greater influence.

It doesn’t.

You can be accountable for a strategy, lead a team, chair a meeting, or own an important decision and still struggle to get people genuinely aligned.

That is because responsibility and influence are different things.

After working with different organisations, I’ve noticed three patterns:

**1. They invest in their people.**

They make room in the budget and in the calendar to develop their people.

**2. They build systems that support growth.**

They don't just grow and hope everything keeps working. They create the processes and environment their people need to do their best work.

**3. They stay curious.**

They keep learning. They pay attention to their industry. They ask questions. And that curiosity helps them see what's coming before they have to react to it.

Growth isn't just about having a great strategy.

It's also about building the people, systems and mindset that can sustain that growth.
