Big congratulations to former KPC Head Coach Paul Mburu Gitau on his appointment as the Head Coach of the DRC Ladies National Volleyball Team, the Leopards.

Coach Gitau will be assisted by Postbank Head Coach Vernon Khayinda, while former Forest Rangers outside hitter Philipp Ndungu Karari begins a new chapter in his volleyball journey after transitioning into coaching, taking up the role of team trainer.

This is a huge milestone and a proud moment for Kenyan volleyball as our coaches and former players continue to make their mark on the international stage.

Wishing Coach Gitau, Coach Vernon, and Trainer Philipp all the best as they take on this exciting challenge with the Leopards. Go make Africa proud!

Former Equity Bank VC outside hitter Kennedy Toek has been appointed as the new Head coach of Namwela High School. This appointment comes after Coach Muresia left for Chesamis high School.

A big lesson from the ongoing African Club Championship in Kigali is that progress comes through consistency, planning, and investment.

Rwanda now has the assurance of having a team in the finals — a huge statement for their volleyball growth. This did not happen overnight. It is the result of years of building clubs, improving league structures, investing in players and coaches, and treating sport professionally.

On the other hand, Kenyan clubs did not perform to the level many expected. Kenya has always been respected for its volleyball talent, passion, and history, but modern competition now demands more than talent alone. It requires strong systems, better preparation, financial investment, commercialization, and long-term planning.

This tournament should be a wake-up call, not a disappointment. Kenya still has the players, coaches, and fan base to compete with the best in Africa. What is needed now is to evolve with the times.

Rwanda has shown us that success can be built within the region. We do not need to look only to North Africa anymore for examples of structure and progress. Our neighbours are showing the way.

The future of Kenyan volleyball can be bright if we choose to learn, improve, and invest wisely.

Kenyan volleyball fans are truly something special

It’s one thing to support your team at home… but it’s another level entirely when fans cross borders just to stand behind their clubs.

Attached is a photo of a GSU supporter currently in Kigali, Rwanda, proudly cheering his team during the ongoing African Club Championship. That kind of dedication is rare. It speaks to a culture where volleyball is not just watched—it is lived.

From packed local courts in Kenya to continental arenas across Africa, our fans show up with unmatched passion, energy, and belief. They chant, they celebrate every point, they feel every loss, and they travel miles just to make sure their teams are never alone.

This is the heartbeat of Kenyan volleyball. Not just the players on court, but the fans in the stands—anywhere in Africa.

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe it.
