Holycross 0
Ardcroney 1
Our first game of the season unfortunately ended in a narrow defeat to Ardcroney. It was a hard fought, fairly even game and Holycross were unlucky not to get the break to sneak an equalising goal. Having gone down a goal mid way through the first half, the girls fought very hard for the remainder of the game and on another day would have got the break they deserved. There were many good performances tonight and plenty to build on for our next game. Well played girls! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

NTSFL U16 Boys
Arra Rovers 1
Holycross FC 2

Serious effort put in by our boys this afternoon, away to a strong Arra Rovers team, in hot and humid conditions. Holycross were definitely better in the first half, with a number of chances just off the mark, until just before halftime, Ronan Bourke wouldn’t take no for an answer, with a well deserved goal (ably assisted by Odhran Doyle, who had a fantastic game, regardless of what position he needed to cover). The second half was much closer fought with Arra capitalising on an error in the box to get back to 1-1. Determination really showed through at this stage, and not long from the end, Callum Fennessy set Dylan Ryan up for a fantastic strike to win the match 1-2. Todays match was a real pleasure to watch, it’s great to get a win on the road, the lads richly deserved. The support on the sidelines was greatly appreciated too 👍

Our U13 boys played away to Nenagh AFC on Saturday morning. They were 2-0 down after about 20 minutes with a very sluggish opening half. Eoin Cafferkey pulled one back just before halftime, a welcome boost at the time. We missed a few chances early in the second half and conceded a third goal on 35 minutes. 3-1 down. The boys worked very hard after this and came right back into the game with some great work in midfield from Cillian Dwyer, Daniel Maher & Cian Long. The heroics of the day went to Eoin Cafferkey though, who scored another 5 goals in the next 15 minutes, completing a double hat-trick. A fantastic individual display helped with some nice assists from Luke Butler, Conor Judge and Darragh Long. Well done boys and well done Eoin ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

U13 Boys League

Holycross 3
Clodiagh Rangers 3

A lovely evening in Glenbane for the boys opening game of the season. Both teams fought hard and a draw was probably a fair result. Captain on the night, Eoin Cafferkey opened the scoring on 20 minutes and Holycross led 1-0 at half time. Daniel Maher scored the second goal on 40 minutes with a great finish after some great play from Fionn McGrath. Clodiagh pushed on and scored their first shortly after that and then their second 2 minutes later with an unfortunate own goal! Eoin was taken down in the box and scored the penalty on about 50 minutes. At 3-2, Holycross looked like they were going to hold out for the win but conceded with 5 minutes to go from a long cross into the box. An exciting finish to a good opening game. Special mention to Adam and Fionn on 2 great performances in their first game at this age group, and also to Cillian and Daniel who were mighty in midfield. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

McGrath Strike Seals Win For Holycross

North Tipp Women's Cup Final

Holycross F.C 3
Killavilla 1

The Women's Final was played in front of a huge crowd in The Tower Grounds in Thurles on Wednesday evening.
Holycross were probably favourites coming into this game after securing the league title in the past couple of weeks but we knew our opponents would be really up for the contest.
We settled quickly and went a goal up on 12 minutes when Ellen Maher timed her run to perfection to slot home from the edge of the box.
We probably dominated the first half keeping killavilla to long range efforts and went on to double our lead just before half time when Abby Challen converted at the back post from a Sarah Quinlan delivery.
Killavilla took the game to us in the second half but we dealt comfortably with the increased pressure. We lost the influential Miah Bourke to injury with 15 minutes remaining and while we trying to recover our shape, Killavilla struck through Nicole Brooks to leave the minimum between the side's. It was game on now and killavilla were attacking at every opportunity but we stood firm and with 8 minutes remaining Our player of the game Louise McGrath broke out of midfield and unleashed an unstoppable drive to the far top corner, a goal deserving to win any final. This killled the Roscrea outfits charge and we saw the game out comfortably.. Best on the night for Holycross F.C were Roisin Dwan, Miah Bourke, Sarah Quinlan and Louise McGrath. In fact all our girls put in a super shift in this final.
We have a lovely mix of young players with great potential for further honours in the coming season's.
Our thanks for the huge support across all of North Tipperary that showed up to support both teams.
We have this season won our first league title and now have added the Cup to make this a historic year for our Club. We look forward to what the future holds. Well done Girls ⚽️ 👏 💚
