🚨Match Result🚨

Thurles Town 3-3 Cloughjordan’B’

On a bitter cold Sunday morning Thurles came away with just a point. Thulres started sluggish and were punished for it when a low ball into the Thurles box was struck home by the Clough striker to put the away side 1 up. just before the half time whistle Dylan Gayson scored a header from a corner to put the score at 1-1 coming into the break.

Thurles came out the 2nd half a different team and started to put the pressure on the Clough defence and it paid off when the Clough defender tried to clear a goal bound effort but ultimately ended up in the back of the net to put Thurles up 2-1, Shortly after Thurles had a 3rd when Willie Creedon latched onto a goalmouth scramble. Thulres had full control of the game. On the 80th minute Clough got a free kick on the right which was hit low and took a few deflections on its way which fell to a Clough man 5 yards from goal to bring it to 3-2. Clough put the pressure on Thurles to get a point from the game. A minute before the final whistle a ball was crossed into the Thurles box which was met by a clough head to put the game 3-3.

Thurles will feel a bit disappointed but ultimately still got points on the board in what is still a long season.

Thanks to our supporters on the day it’s greatly appreciated.

Match report: Div 2 League

Rearcross ‘B’ 0 - 4 Thurles Town

Thurles Town made the trip to Rearcross on Sunday afternoon looking to keep up their perfect league record and to make it 4 wins from 4.

Rearcross started the stronger of the two teams and nullified the Thurles attack with their high energy in the early parts of the game. Rearcross had the better chances in the first half, with fullbacks Rory Madigan and Dylan Gayson making some great interventions to keep the score at 0-0. The teams went in at half time with the score at 0-0, with Thurles not performing how they have been in recent weeks.

Thurles started the second half much the stronger team and started to click into gear, creating more chances and working harder from the first minute of the half. Town deservedly took the lead on 60 minutes when substitute Jason Bolger finished brilliantly over the Rearcross keeper from Tommy Brophy’s cross.

Thurles doubled their lead just 5 minutes later when Curtis Ryan played a magnificent through ball, splitting the Rearcross defence to find Tommy Brophy who rounded the keeper and slotted into the empty net.

Thurles then made it 3-0 when Dylan Gayson’s corner was headed into the Rearcross net by their own defender on 83 minutes.

Thurles wrapped the game up on 92 minutes when substitute Eamon Delaney laid the ball off for Curtis Ryan who struck the ball from 25 yards over the Rearcross keeper, finding the roof of the net and making it 4-0.

The win brings Thurles Town top of the Division 2 league table on goal difference with 4 wins from 4.

Best on the day for Thurles was Caolan O’Brien in centre-back, with the Thurles Town bench also impacting the game superbly.

Match report: Munster Junior Shield last 32

Thurles Town 0 - 1 Waterford Crystal

Thurles welcomed Waterford Crystal to the dog track this afternoon in some windy conditions, but the pitch was in great knick considering the weather recently, setting up for what would be a fiercely competitive game.

The Waterford side started the stronger of the two teams, causing trouble out both wings with crosses having to be dealt with by Thurles.

Waterford Crystal took the lead midway through the first half after a fine finish from their winger into the top right corner, leaving keeper Gordon Carey with no chance of reaching it.

Town finished the half strongly and drew some great saves out of the Crystal keeper in the closing moments, but went in at half time 1-0 down.

Thurles came out with far more intensity in the second half and started to play far more football, with the final ball often letting them down. Thurles had many chances go close, but the visiting Waterford Crystal side defended well throughout, and despite a strong second half from the lads, Crystal held out for a 1-0 win and progress to the last 16 of the Munster junior shield.

We would like to thank all who came to support in testing conditions today, and we would also like to wish Waterford Crystal the best of luck for the remainder of the competition.

🚨2nd Division Result🚨

Thurles Town 5-0 Shinrone B

Thurles added another 3 points to their collection today with a very convincing win over Shinrone. Thurles were in control for most of the game. The first of the scores came when Curtis Ryan shot through a crowded box and into the goals. Thurles 2nd came when Rory Madigan chased down a ball that look destined for the keepers hands but never gave up and got the touch to put Thurles 2-0 up. Thomas Quigley got the 3rd when he cut in from the left flank and placed it with his right into the far corner of the Shinrone goal.

Thurles went in at H/T 3-0 up with some missed opportunities to be further in front going into the interval.

The 2nd half started the same with thurles in control and asking questions of the Shinrone defence. Jordan Wetton got on the score sheet when he rifled a shot into the Shinrone goal after a great switch from Tommy Brophy. Curtis Ryan ended the scoring by grabbing his brace with another right footed effort beating the Shinrone keeper to make it 5-0.

A great result from the boys in some poor conditions today. Would like to thank all the support we had today it is much appreciated.

Hon the Town! ⚽️
